Just gonna jump in and say I’ve never had an issue with an SMP Kit. Personally I love building kits and as most people here would know, I’m great at painting. SMP especially lately has been way more solid than any Gunpla kit I’ve handled. When I’m done with them they’re solid little toys I say would rival the DXs! But again that’s entirely in part of my skill set, but the kits are solid

 

I think Superminipla keeps going in Japan because it’s a lot cheaper for them to produce and less risky given the increasingly lower birth rate in Japan. You’ll notice that while Super Sentai has been virtually dead in the Figuarts line (aside from a few MMPR releases as stateside exclusives with new unmasked head sculpts from a few years ago). Meanwhile we are getting some of the older teams released as figures in the candy kit lines in addition to the newer teams.

I believe Superminipla gained more improvements in engineering and features due to Bandai noticing that older collectors are starting to collect the line. Some of the SOC designers are on the same team and even make some improvements that the SOC figures didn’t have. Also helps that these are molded in ABS instead of polystyrene, which makes it more enticing to figure fans who normally don’t want to build kits(since they’re usually made largely put of polystyrene). I hope Bandai is also using the newer SMP kits to gauge demand for new SOCs or redesigns.

There’s still demand for completed figures that can combine and transform and are in the bigger size that old Sentai DX were. Maybe Hasbro will eventually make Megazords like that.

Interestingly Amazon already applied that discount to my existing preorder.

 

It's their pre-order price guarantee. If the price ever drops below what it was when you ordered before the release date they adjust.

 

I was surprised to see a toy have a price guarantee. They've been finicky with their price guarantees this year as there have been several video games and movies that were not covered by it.

Anyway, I'm never going to complain about Hasbro's paint apps again on their $23 toys:

 

I think the price guarantee holds if there's a cheaper, non error price that is applied before a preorder ships. If it's after, even a day after, forget about it.

I don't think we've heard anything new about Megazords in a long time. They are struggling to even get the Megazords from the current series out.

 

No. No Dragonzord. I'm unsure the Hasbro version could withstand combining with it, even all plastic.

Well they did say the pandemic is what affected the Dino Fury zords.

 

Sure, I'm just saying we haven't heard anything about classic Megazords but they haven't even released the current stuff they revealed like months and months ago. I don't even think we've seen a teaser or anything, so who knows if it's in the pipeline or dead. Heck we don't even know for sure if the monsters line is dead.

 

It's a mess, but that's what happens to baby lines. They need to fail before they can succeed.

 

Speaking of failing…

 

Yeah. They changed that a couple of years back. Used to be they would price match or give a sale price if you asked after buying. Now you just have to buy another at the lower price and return it as the higher price. Costs them money in shipping and processing. Weird move if you ask me.

 

They're probably hoping that having to preform the extra steps to get the refund will deter more people from bothering. And I'd be willing to bet it's actually saved them money because of that.
