Just curious, did you try any of the SMP Sentai robots released after Daizyujin/Megazord? (first one would be Live Robo) If so, what didn't you like about them?

SMP can be a tough one. I have only two, Genesic GaoGaiGar and Daizyujin, and they are incredible and mediocre respectively. From what I've seen, most of the GGG SMPs are average, but a lot of the Sentai ones, especially pre-Zyuranger ones like Sun Vulcan, are pretty exceptional. I have Victory Robo on preorder and I want to get Galaxy Mega and Delta.

Problem is SMP is just too expensive on average. It's hard to justify the cost of something so small and sometimes simplistic. These are MG+ prices for what feel like only slightly more elaborate HGs.

I have Live Robo and Shogun Megazord. Live Robo is okay...not fantastic. Shogun is a hot mess in gestalt form.

Sorry for the consecutive posts...I'm on mobile which makes it harder to edit.

But yes, cost is definitely a factor. I think if they were half the price...like 20 for Live Robo and 40 for Shogun, I'd be less disappointed. But after I build them...especially if they have some sort of issue like Shogun's skirt not staying together...then I'm generally experiencing some form of buyer's remorse.

I definitely see what you're saying regarding Shogun Megazord. The legs are pretty fiddly to pose. However, I'm still fairly impressed by how they managed to engineer posable legs out of this design. The DX toy might be one of the most basic combining robots ever, but I never thought about how hard it would be to turn it into a posable robot until I built the SMP.

I thought the higher cost of the SMP kits over regular model kits is primarily due to the more durable plastics used. I also think that the engineering that goes into these kits are very interesting. They are more focused on posability and combining mechanisms instead of detailing like normal models kits. I find them to stand up to repeated posing as well as any action figure I have (I've posed the hell out of my SMP Jet Icarus since I built it last year). It seems that most of the Sentai regular SMP releases can be obtained for a reasonable price (at or near MSRP anyway). The P-Bandai stuff, on the other hand, gets pretty ridiculous and you have to REALLY want them to justify paying those prices.

I'm still trying to figure out why they skipped Dairanger to do Kakuranger for the SMP series.

Same reason they skipped Turbo and went to In Space, and skipped Lost Galaxy and went to Lightspeed Rescue.

It's random. If anything they're doing every other series as a rule, so skipping Dairanger was always part of the plan.

Just planning on getting the SOC Ultrazord and call it a day. Maybe the legacy Thunder Megazord and Ninja Megazord. Not a lot of faith on Hasbro's attempts, not because the cant but because theydont want to.

Was there anymore information on the Lightning Collection Zeo Megazord other than it might not transform? Was that confirmed?

What about Ohranger? Also, didn't they do the mech from Jetman?

I get what you are saying though. I just think it was dumb to skip one of the significant series in Japan.

I read somewhere that what they decided to do in the SMP Sentai line is at least partially based on fan vote in Japan. Victory Robo was high on their list and it's getting made next. If they go by the current fan vote, the next SMP could be Gaoking (Wildforce Megazord). I hope not because there are a lot of Sentai Robots I'd rather have in SMP form before Gaoking.

Dairenoh would be high on my list too, but I'm guessing it might be difficult to engineer to the current SMP standards (that is, to be able to fully transform and offer high articulation).

For me these SMP releases just keep getting better, so I'm really looking forward to Victory Robo and Grand Liner!

Gaoking and Abaren-oh are my top wants for SMP, honestly the Abaranger deisgns would be super easy to engineer.

Well if they ended up doing the Dairanger mecha I would probably break down, buy them, and then pay someone to assemble them for me.
