Crazy thing is, despite playing it conservatively, Hasbro's managed to outclass BoA pretty substantially in the 6"+ figure realm out the gate. I'm surprised we already got Goldar and a Putty out and it hasn't even been a year.

Agreed, the Lightning Collection has already out classed the Legacy line and it hasn't even been out a year yet. The fact that they've already committed to villains outside of the easy retooled Psycho Rangers is amazing. Especially when you consider the unique tooling on Zedd and Goldar that may not be easily reusable.

I'm always reminded of how BoA made some excuses not to include signature weapons initially nor make villains.

In another cool move, the articulation scheme Hasbro came up with is pretty good, providing plenty of range aside from the chest armored figures. Range of motion has been increasingly important to me in recent years.

Another reason why I don't regret passing on most Sentai Figuarts any longer nor passing on all but 2 Legacy figures(which I'm not planning to keep anymore).

Hasbro also has very easy ways to make the following as exclusives too, assuming they have the rights...
    • Kakuranger Ninja White Tsuruhime in Kakuranger costume and ninja costume
    • Zyuranger Tiger Ranger(Boi)
I can easily see those as con or Walgreens exclusives since they'd be mere repaints

I only have the two Tommys, Zedd, Putties, and (tomorrow) Goldar..... but you can see some major pluses and minuses for both legacy and lightning.

The legacy figures have WAY better morphers. You can make out the coins. They're sculpted to stick out a bit. The lightning figures barely stick out of the belt and are underdetailed (comparably). Similarly, the weapons for the rangers who got weapons in the legacy line (the original five in the pearlescent plastic and the green/white rangers) are better. The weapons for legacy are somewhat undersized, softer, and less detailed. At least, that's the case for Saba and the Dragon Dagger. The helmet sculpts are sharper too. This is especially noticeable in the superior chest armors of the white and green rangers. Esp. as the soft plastic for the green ranger rides up and is a little narrow on the shoulders.

But the lightning collection has some tone to the paint, not just a bright/even application. The costumes and builds feel more like an actual ranger - even with sculpted wrinkles. The legacy figures are too toy-etic. Perfectly smooth, symmetrical, perfect muscles. Hard plastic. No shading or tones. The legacy figures also have decent articulation but can't hold a candle to the newer line's butterfly hinged and such. Nevermind the lightning accessories - effects, alternate heads, swappable weapon hands for a putty. Incredible amounts of thought put in.

I may wind up just keeping both. Pluses and minuses abound for each.

Counterpoint: The Lightning collection ranger weapons actually combine, and lord knows we’ll probably get a redone chest armor at some point later for a exclusive rerelease of Green or something.

Still gotta figure out what to do with my spare. Debating between selling him or making another full gold repaint

Got my Goldar, from an order back in March, I think it was. Pretty solid figure. Joints are a bit loose, but the paint is all nice looking. It's still not SHF tier, but it's one of the better Lighting Collection figures so far

Finally got Lord Zedd. Those cords running from knee to ankles are annoying. I think it would've been better if those silver bits would rotate. I find myself unplugging those pieces when I want to articulate the knees. Some clearance at the ankles would be nice. Can't even use that hinge to move the foot up or down. Also, maybe its just me, but the legs seem short.

Tell me about it. We had to wait until Samurai for BoA to make Rita Repulsa.

As someone who's seen Kakuranger, I want both versions of Tsuruhime yesterday.

I just want the entire Kaku team, Junior (Rito in PR), and a new Shogun MZ that is compatible with my Legacy Falconzord.

So I finally found a white ranger with an alternate Tommy Head that didn't look too terrible in-package. What's the deal with that head? Most of the one's I've seen seem to suffer some kind of glossy shine or something and it's hard to tell if they're any good paint wise because of it.

The listing for Goldar on GameStop now says "This item is currently not available online." I'm assuming it will be again, hopefully, once they get things straightened out.

Dude, that's the opposite of how things usually work. Usually, the buyer sends an offer to the seller.

I mean, change "offer" to "asking price" and it makes sense.

If anyone cares, you could potentially get the entire Legacy Ranger team for, like $30 at Gamestop.
