Went to target and saw one labled 73121. I looked all over trying to peek inside at the peg but I didn't see any slots so I passed on it...

Interesting. I assume Elita-1 will have this retool as well?

I like this silly thing... ot has a place in my collection when I round up all my combiner stuff and scatter them in the floor that my CW leader doesn't fulfill. Seeing this thread makes me miss it and want to play with it when I get home. Also even though I still have my packaging I don't think I'm going to bother returning and correcting mine to the running change, like I said in my earlier review I can get it to tab all together by just pressing on it harder and I'm attached to the weird original design. I guess after time with it the one thing that UGHHGHGS me is the null rays they are so dinky and wont stay put... the best way to use them is to just have him hold them like a blaster...If I weren't short on accessories collection wide I would reassign HIM SOME BETTER GUNS.

the 2yo still plays with him and he and the 6yo like him and all told has the biggest deal character/ mainline release we have that I can toss to the wolves and not really worry about them breaking him due to the CW Leader being our main representative of the character and honestly the overall sturdiness and heartiness of the mold suggesting they likely WONT break anything. He makes a good combiner torso to mix it up with CW limbs. Overall I'm real glad we got him.

I feel as though I'm one of the only people who find his goofy proportions charming. The robot mode looks awesome, combined mode took some getting used to but it's good.

Jet mode, looks alright. I can forgive the man under jet thing, BUT those stickers are appalling.

As to the running mold change, I was surprised mine has it based on my luck with this kind of stuff.

This is one of the worst Transformers I've ever owned. I can't even remember the last time I was this frustrated with a Transformer. His robot mode is fine and the combiner torso is decent but a little flimsy. It's the damn jet mode. It's just a failure in every possible way. The stickers are unforgivable, and the way it doesn't fit together correctly is so frustrating. There are huge gaps between panels. I don't even know how this thing passed QA. I almost returned Starscream the day I bought him but couldn't bring myself to do it purely out of principal. I don't even know if this running change can salvage such a terrible figure.

Because it is Hasbro we are talking about here.

A company famous for his cheap hollow plastic syndrome and QC issues.

At least this is not worse than Trypticon issues. The worse part of the whole Trypticon situation is that Trypticon won Titan Class Fan’s Choice Vote.

In any case, I don't think this Starscream is worth picking up for me. I simply don't like the figure. Moreover, I have the original Hasbro and Takara, plus MP-11, and CW Leader Class.

Unless they make a Mega Action Series, I'm good on G1 Starscream - If this release, Prime Wars or not, can truly be said to be G1. Looks more like the generic design they're pushing lately.

Considering her jet parts are different from Starscream’s, I don’t think she needs a further retool. It seemed to be a specific issue with Starscream’s jet kibble.

Is this the new revised version? Because if it is, the box version is V-2976B which means V-2xxxx could have revised Starscreams too?

This guy was a learning experience for me. I'm not buying any more placeholders from now on, something either meets my criteria or it doesn't.

If I have to wait another 10 years for a good Voyager Seeker, so be it.

Also worth noting was they had two of batch V-2976B at the Target I visited but oddly only one of them had the notches in the red post while the other clearly did not. I guess you really just have to look closely from the side of the package before you purchase it.

Mine says 73101 on it and has the old, unfixed peg. Does anyone know if there's any modding that can be done to get the same effect as the running change?

This actually still bothers me because I feel like it sends Hasbro the wrong message, saying "yeah, you can screw up and we still won't care" as opposed to something like Topspin and Twin Twist which would hopefully send the message of "yeah, we do appreciate a good toy that also makes an attempt to hide all the gaps".

I don't have the figure but just looking at the photos, it appears you should just be able to cut two slits into the post and have it work. I could be wrong though - don't take my word for it.

Found 3 at TRU yesterday. 1 without slits and 2 with. Spent a good 10 minutes looking in the boxes and yes, you can see the change thru the top of the box. 100% happier with the fixed version. all the jet parts line up now and it fits together sooo much better. box # was 731-something

Neko-bot77, do you happen to remember if the three starscreams were from the same box number? Just curious since I saw an old and new mold in two boxes with the same box number.

I had to pop the whole wing assembly off the pin using a soldering iron. Then I trimmed the post on the wing assembly so that the assembly would sit lower in its hole. Then I put the pin back, again with a soldering iron, and used superglue to tighten the sliding action.
Cutting slots in the side of the post doesn’t do anything on these unfixed versions, because the hole itself is molded closed at the bottom, with the pin pushed in all the way; there’s no physical way for the wing to move down.
I note that some people have had success with pushing REALLY hard, so it’s possible there’s another version out there that’s partially fixed. I know that on mine, I actually put it in a vise and stomped on it, and it wouldn’t budge. It wasn’t until I removed the pin that I realized there was a physical plastic blockage keeping my figure’s wing from pushing in.
