So guess who arrived today. Was very excited to get him as when I saw an early version of the figure I was amazed and thought this would be my new favorite Generations Starscream, after having him in hand I have found him to be less impressive.




Here are his included accessories. His power core is referred to as the Seeker Enigma.


His robot mode is certainly where he shines. Great articulation and appearance, though he has some seriously huge boots. I didn't love the way his cannons mounted on his shoulders, but actually far preferred it when I used the combiner feet instead. It reminds me a lot of Cybertron Starscream in this configuration.




He is covered in pre-applied stickers and several are done fairly poorly. Note his feet where the stickers do not lay flat due to the detail molding beneath them:


Transformation to jet is fairly simplistic, in fact I think some people will find it way too simplistic for a voyager figure. Tabbing his wings in perfectly is a real challenge and I gave up in frustration after a few minutes.



Finally there is his combiner mode. It is actually surprisingly stable, though rather convoluted to arrive to. He is sporting his classic Starscream crown. Also his instructions only refer to this as his super robot mode, doesn't seem to have its own name and uses the deluxe wave one bots as his limbs.



He will be staying in his bot mode on my shelf as that is what I am happiest with by far.

Once again I’m left bemoaning the end of AVP. I guarantee you we’d have a name and backstory for that combined mode if it was still going.

 

Those strickers... ugh.

It looks like it could be a fun toy if the stickers and colouring were just a bit more refined. As it is it kinda looks derpy, but I can see some UT-era fun chunk beneath the tacky foil.

 

also holy shit, the enigma in his combined chest looks like a big pink piece of flesh. that is hilarious.

something about his palette and general feel just reminds me of super mario world. no idea why and i'm probably crazy, but fuck lol

 

Golly those are terrible stickers. You'd think "simple stripe and Con symbol" would be easier, cheaper, and more visually pleasing than trying to coat the entire surface of the wing with adhesive foil.

 

This is the peak of bad sticker usage. Only way I'm possibly owning this mold is if Takara does it properly.

 

Those stickers, damn. They really didn't learn from disasters from Broadside, did they?

Those aside he looks pretty alright. Love how his combined mode is a homage to Movie Starscream. I wish the head was too, tho.

 

Can we get a scale comparison against someone like TR Voyager Megatron or a common deluxe?

I'd like to see this as Thundercracker, if only to finally have a good Voyager Thundercracker.

 

I guess there are worse ways to do a Starscream combiner....

 

He looks surprisingly good. Very Liokaiser. Foreshadowing? I hope

 

This looks like absolute trash. They can't even give us a Starscream that uses a non-fake chest canopy at the voyager price point  

 

This does not bode well for elita-1

I'm sorry, but this is abysmal. Every mode looks like a Fisher Price toy.

 

Can we get a picture of the unnamed combined form on the instructions? Who are the limbs? Just wave one Deluxes?

I am thinking we won't get a proper name for the combiner until all his dedicated limbs are out.
