So today I have voyager Grimlock. It is amazing to me that Grimlock is in the same wave as Starscream, because everything they got wrong with Starscream they got right with Grimlock.

    First his box:

In my mind this is the most perfect Grimlock that I have ever owned. The only one that comes close is Masterpiece Grimlock, but I don't consider him to be very "play" friendly so I'll exclude him. He has wonderful articulation, looks extremely G1 accurate and unlike Starscream, his sticker placement appears to be perfect. His only negative is his lack of his sword and double-barreled cannon, but I'm sure 3P will take care of that soon enough.

    Here are his accessories:

Let's talk about dino-mode. He's about as good as I think it is possible to be and still have the classic "Grimlock" look. He can pull off classic tail-dragger look as well as Jurassice Park balanced look and the head is just so perfect!

Ok, let's talk about Volcanicus... what can I say about Volcanicus... god, I had low expectations. Pictures made me expect him to be very floppy and a complete mess that probably required a 30 step transformation to accomplish. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!

His transformation is very intuitive and thanks to extremely well placed tabs he locks in and is probably more sold than any of the CW chest pieces. His arms are a bit spindly, but I've moved passed that. I did not notice until much later that Volcanicus's head will not turn. Maybe it will, but I'm not willing to put the amount of force to test it and there is no visible pin underneath so I'm assuming it is in fact locked in place.

In my opinion he is the best of the CW style team leaders. Up until this point I would have said Onslaught/Hot Spot was the best of the chest-bots, even though their vehicle forms were a bit iffy and the best way to form their combined mode was a fan mode rather that what the instructions called for. In my opinion Grimlock has blow them all away. In fact it makes me question why the others could not have been better.

Hasbro should release this mode over and over. Do it in G2 colors, do it in Shattered Glass colors, do it in deluxe paint apps in a special box set with the rest of the PoP Dinobots as a TRU exclusive and charge double retail. I will buy them all. This bot is just that good!

I'm sooo excited for this guy! I'm going to be harassing most of my Targets near me when they get him. I need them to place on hold for me. He's a must have!

I wish they took some hints from gc creations and provided a collapsible grimy leg that becomes the combiner hips.

Can you attach the leg accessory to the back of the dino mode?

I noticed that there's a square hole on the feet, while the tab used to secure the dino mode head is also square. Can one of them be fitted there?

Just a question but do you have FoC Grimlock? What does PoTP Grimlock look like with them?

Thanks for the review, I've been excited to get this bad boy. For a double barreled gun I've been thinking of giving him Octane's extra weapon.

If you happen to have some PotP deluxes already, could you show the torso mode with the hand accesories used as side fillers as we saw with the prototype?

My best guess is on the chest of the torso mode, just like PoTP Starscream. I can visibly see a square hole on the inside of the dino's mouth for it to attach to.

I'd figure the skull opened up and it fits inside that hole somehow

Hello, can you place the two armor hands from the deluxes to the combiner torso's sides to help fill it in?

Robot mode looks like the strongest mode to me. I like the spiked 'brass knuckles' molding on the fists.

Dino mode looks way too compromised by the combiner function with that brick-tail, stub-claws, and waddle-stumper-legs. I could see it as still being a fun toy to mess with though. We'll have to see once I get one.

Thanks for the review! Seeing these pics, my only real complaint is how short his dino feet claws are. They're just so tiny! Throws off the leg proportions big time. And I don't really see why the claws couldn't have been longer. Oh well.
