Power of the Primes was recently announced as part of the Machinima series that will continue the story of Combiner Wars

 

Is it the third part? With a name like that I could see it being original 13 centric with some abominus and predaking mixed in I hope

 

Im picking a line with the remaining primes and some of there allies, fill in characters from all over there series kinda like how aniversery line was

 

Im picking the last combiners will be achieved with multipacks

 

13 Primes would be nice. Can I get a Nova Prime as well? That'd rock my socks.

But what about a gimmick? It'd probably make zero sense, but I was thinking they could each have a Matrix that plugs in to activate a gimmick a la Cyber Planet Keys. And each Matrix would be colored differently or something.
Of course, I don't need a gimmick, but it seems it's a mandatory thing nowadays.

 

There's no guarantee that this is the name though.

 

Well that's a completely nondescript title. I guess that means they can do whatever they want this line. I look forwards to seeing more of exactly the same things they've already been doing in the last two lines.

 

The word "Power" in the title makes me think that we may be in store for some Powermasters.

 

I think the fact that we just got a Powermaster Prime (Who would literally be the flagship of that) puts that in the ground.

 

I kind of hope it means we'll get figures of the 13 Primes in some way. It'd be really cool if some of them incorporated previous gimmicks; Nexus Prime is a Combiner, Onyx Prime is a Titan Master, etc. Onyx Prime, at least, is practically assured given how much he's been built up in Titans Return.

 

It could be a working title but PLEASE let this mean I'll have a Vector, Solus, Megatronus, Micronus, Nexus, Nova, & more importantly a Rodimus Prime on my CHUG shelves. Oh and Prima & Liege Maximo too I guess.

 

Yeah, I'm liking the idea of a Cybertron style toyline - Onyx + beasts, Nexus + combiners, etc.

Doesn't seem to be enough room in a single toyline for all 13 + acolytes (or whatever we'll call them), although I suppose they could ramp up their number of box sets

 

I see this as just a working title. Not gonna bother speculating till I see some concept art or something.

A few of the 13 that have shown up in IDW as Leaders, such as Oynx, Nexus and Micronus? I do get the impression that Barber is seeding stuff for future toylines. I know James Roberts mentioned winding up with all the Protectobots on the Lost Light ahead of Combiner Wars so there's some precedent for IDW seeding hints for upcoming toy lines. We might get some of the missing combiners, some of the beasts, and maybe even some Micromasters in the Titan Master price point? All wild, wild speculation based on so very little. But that's the fun of it, I guess.

 

I think Power of the Primes could possibly, maybe, (I hope not at least) refer to some toys of different characters wielding relics of the Primes, Star Saber, Requiem Blaster, the Forge and so on. I'm just setting my expectations low, but god I would love to see the 13 in toy form. Wouldn't honestly work when very few of them have alt modes, and god knows what Amalgamous Prime would look like. I doubt we'll get a G2 Liege Maximo toy, but I'll pick up anything that has his name on it. What about Optimus though? If they're releasing figures of the 13 would he be part of the line up, or would we get something different like Nova Prime or The Last Autobot maybe?

If they want to, they can throw in Nominus Prime as a bonus considering he already has an alt mode drawn out, and Zeta Prime with removable armor?

 

I suspect we'll see a Cybertron style line focused around the Colony Worlds/Primes. possibly broken down by wave. example: a wave of Beast Wars Characters/Eukarans with a leader class Onyx Prime. a wave of Camiens with a voyager Solus Prime etc.

 

I could see it also broken down by class - e.g. the voyager and deluxes (and maybe one legend) in wave 1 are a combiner, while the Titanmasters and leaders homage Micromasters and micromaster bases (for example, Skystalker is a titanmaster head for a base/shuttle that also has a robot mode now). Meanwhile a box set comes out with a third theme (different beast characters from the four deluxe beast molds from TR, as one possibility).

Something like that could knock off 2-3 archetypes per wave and give us a ton of options

 

Give me a proper Rodimus Prime and some beast combiners and I'm happy!
(some Micrometers would be icing on the cake)

But yeah, as a few folks have said, i am envisioning a Cybertron-esque set of different planets/colonies/factions falling along the lines of Beasts/Micromasters/maybe combiners or pretenders?

only possible hiccup in what i envision is, if you cover the 'con Beast Combiners, you are talking 1/2 your available deluxe slots JUST for Predaking/Abominus/Pirahnacon (maybe 2 of them happen in the Mainline and 1 as a box set)

 

I speculate that there will be plenty of repaints with little to no retooling.

 

Because this is definitely what all trends point toward.
