Revised the Hot Rod thighs so the Rodimus shoulders can easily slot off and onto them for transformation, designed a new Rodimus shoulder/hinge assembly because we all know the stock configuration looked stupid as hell. Also gave him a new neck plate that raises his head and tilts it forward to look more "heroic" and less bulldog. Random project after finding this dusty guy in a tote while reorganizing my studio. Always liked him, fun toy that had so much more potential to be better than it was from Hasbro.

The shoulders just need to be moved back to the Hot Rod thighs before transformation.

Nice there was a kit out a while back that replaced the Hot Rod knees/thighs, to give Rodimus actual shoulder articulation. Been hunting it down with zero success since I picked up the Rodimus Unicronus version of this figure a few months back.

I did that way back in 2018 and sold it through my old Shapeways shop before anyone else. One of the first design projects I worked on in my early days of printing my own stuff:

These should work with Rodimus Unicronus right? Any way you can send me a "How to" to these mods? I fear one day breaking mine because the sounds it makes.

Oh damn! If you were planning on making it available on your actual store page you can count me in for a sale, I hate the stock combined shoulders so much.

I might put this new shoulder assembly design up, but not the old design, since it still relied upon the old thighs in combined mode. That look is dead to me. Lol

Same mold, so these parts would work.

Designed a new neck plate to raise and angle adjust Rodimus' head. Slight change that has big impact on his vibe. Always hated how his head is neckless and tilted back.

I really only ended up with him because he came in a case with POTP Optimus, and I'd bought the case from Target when the line launched. The shoulders and neckless head almost ruined the figure, but the leg articulation was above par at the time because rocker ankles were rare on TF toys back then. Tons of "upgrade" kits are floating around that basically just cover the ugly thigh shoulders up without addressing their actual articulation problem, and I never saw anyone address the head/neck issue before. It's funny how tilting the head forward 6-8 degrees and raising it 1.5mm really changes this guy.

I’d love to add these to my toy scheme custom.

Reposting some pics from a separate custom thread, upgraded Super God Rod with some fully printed MP scale articulated hands I just finished designing and testing.

Fantastic work on the neck and shoulders! Count me among those interested if you were ever to sell this as a kit.

How does Hot Rod looks like with the new thigh setup? Does it effect his height? (Something akin to Kingdom Rodimus)
