Just got the Amazon exclusive Power of the Primes Punch Counterpunch figure and thought I'd post some thoughts. Packaging is very nice. Car mode is pretty slick-looking. Has some similarities to previous molds with this type of car mode (Combiner Wars Dead End, Titans Return Chromedome). Transformation is simple but took a bit of doing to get it all together. Had to squeeze to get the two halves together, but it has a neat aspect of the lower legs unfolding and engulfing the entire torso. Unfortunately the bottom half doesn't sit completely flush, so it doesn't roll very easily. He does have weapon storage, at least!

Both bot modes look great. The knees and elbows are designed to swing either direction, so transformation from Punch to Counterpunch and back is pretty simple. Just tip the helmet like the G1 toy, flip the fists, and readjust the shoulder kibble (which is the most involving part but it's still pretty simple). The shoulder kibble has locking points in both modes. It would have been cool to have some more adjustments like the G1 toy did, but it's still fantastic that they did give him two different modes for either bot. One little highlight the difference in his handmolds: Punch has open hands, while Counterpunch has closed fists. A small little extra detail to add some difference that I appreciated.

Articulation is good. The head mold is on a ball joint with a lot of room for movement, so he can get really expressive. The feet are blocky like a lot of Combiner War figures, and with the way the knees bend both directions it can make poseability a little tricky, but nothing terrible.

There are a few drawbacks to this figure:

One, I wish the gun was bigger, and that we had a second gun for Counterpunch.

Two, there isn't much thigh swivel articulation. He has it, but it doesn't have much space to move next to the hip balljoints, and mine were so tight at first that the balljoints popped out before I could get the thighs to swivel. After I did get them to move, they are a little easier to adjust.

Three, my copy came with two of the same hand mold. The way it works, he has his P/CP hands molded on either end on a pin joint, so it's a simple twirl to switch them. Unfortunately, I got two right hands for Punch, and two left hands for Counterpunch. The good news is that because of how they combined the two different hands, I don't have an open right hand pointing the wrong direction on the left side, just an upside down hand. Same with Counterpunch. You can see what I mean in the photos. I'd like to see about getting it replaced, but Amazon is sold out right now, and if it doesn't happen, I can live with it. Something to keep an eye out for though.

    He also came with these...

Overall, I'm happy we got an official Punch Counterpunch from Hasbro that actually keeps the gimmick the original G1 toy had. Despite a few flaws and a QC mistake, this one's a winner.

This figure is awesome... the prime armor kinda makes sense with him...its like If he's interacting with on of the evil primemasters he turns to a con..and if he interacts with the good prime he becomes a prime himself ! (That's why he looks like prime)...speaking of which..this guy is handsome....seriously he has a better optimus head than optimus prime himself

He looks like a solid generations car guy, and does his gimmick well.

I don't regret cancelling my amazon preorder though, since a slightly more interesting than average generations car guy is still kind of boring to me right now.

Also, how well does his gun peg into the Prime Armor pegs holes on either chest? I'm hoping that works for bot-mode gun storage.

Yeah, there’s a slot on one side of the handle that tabs underneath.

Pretty well, you’d have no problem storing it in either chest.

Not everyone did. I'm as happy as a hippo that P/CP isn't a combiner.

I don't have my Punch yet, but I've got TR Arcee here. Comparing her weapons to the pics in this review (great review, BTW), I can tell you they are not the same mold. Similar, but definitely different guns.

Huh, when it was first mentioned I was all NO WAY but seeing them side by side like that they literally just molded some additional bits onto Arcee's guns. Great use of remolding IMO!
