Is there a fix for those clip on wheels? Painting them is the only solution I can think of.

Happy to have this in moustache and black. Not a fan of the tooling, massive fan of moustache and black.

But how long's it been like that? These things are designed about a year to a year and half in advance before they're revealed let alone released. Plus mos of the money goes into mold building.
Consumerism works by producing a product/service on a budget that you can make back and then make a profit off by selling it to a target audience, kids who, I don't know if you've noticed, aren't know for having a lot of money and go for video games over toys more now a days.

I can't remember. Does the back half roll away and disappear in the cartoon like Prime's trailer did.

Wait for Toyhax to release a sticker sheet to cover those clips. You also gain the benefit of getting rid of the cheap shiny stickers Hasbro use with a better ones.

Stickers covering something like that is a fucking stupid and horrible idea.

We should take into consideration that Hot Rod in this release is serving 3 modes.
At the same time trying to be under the SRP.

I feel some of the nitpickers are kinda expecting a near MP Rodimus Prime quality.
Also while hoping for such quality, I cannot think of a mass retail line for a TF without a gimmick hence not comprising toy's quality.

If anyone wants a G1 toon accurate Hot Rod / Rodimus Prime in mass retail toy release here are the scenarios:
1.) A TF toyline mass release without compromising gimmick (let's say a near Reveal the Shield line).
    2.) Buy MP-09 or MP Hotrod/Hotrod w/Targetmaster
    3.) Buy Unofficial 3Ps

I can only think of someone casting the back wheels as replacement for the first 4. But the alt mode still looks like ass and it still got stickers and the toy colors and a trailer that turns into armor that I would not have any use for.

    The thing is...
Hot Rod as Car is feasible.

As Rodimus Prime with a Trailer is a long shot. His transforming animation are inconsistent to begin with.
If you recall animations of the G1 toon sometimes the trailer de-attach itself ala-Optimus'.
And sometimes it transforms into Roddy's legs. Unlike Optimus'.
Therefore Rodimus Prime have a "Forced" Alt mode.

Another thing to note. Hot Rod grows taller to be Rodimus.
How can you do that in toy form without any compromising some aspects?

Now we have an official toy that serves the following modes:
    - Hot Rod & his Car mode
    - Evolving into a Rodimus Prime
    - Having a trailer
    - With a Matrix of Leadership

    At what expense?
    - Making his trailer as upgrade part.

Either get this one or wait another a year or more for a G1 toon accurate Rodimus Prime that his trailer converts into mobile defense bay. Yup no more Hot Rod figure. Imagine a darker color shade of this Hot Rod with re-sculpted face then a trailer transforms into a defense bay.

    3P opportunities? YUP.
    - Offer a new Headsculpt to replace the current one
    - Offer a new Trailer but transforming as defense bay

I could smell vultures getting what i'm talking about.

You can't do that since the first four wheels have mushroom peg on the car's body with the hole on the wheels, while the last two wheels do the exact opposite. You need to also recast and remold the parts where the wheels attached to.

If you own TR Octone mold, you can try to pop off one of his wheels and see what I mean.

Other than Rodimus Prime's arms (not that they're partsformed, I can deal with that, but how Hot Rod's T-bar legs aren't held down in any way is awful) this looks pretty neat.

I've waited literally decades for an official, decent, Leader-sized Rodimus Prime.......and right when it's finally released, Takara randomly decides to stop upgrading their domestic releases, which means i'm stuck with the Hasbro version with unpainted hub caps, minimal paint apps and horrible stickers.
    Why is life so cruel???

    Ebay:
Trying to attach a trailer to a futuristic sports car is inherently flawed, not to mention stupid on so many levels. We're technically in the future and no one in real life has ever thought of that as a good idea.

And given this thing will retail at $45, you can pick up a KO Masterpiece Hot Rod for $35 that's just as good as the real thing. I feel bad for all the people who bought Classics Rodimus, Titans Return Hot Rod and keep going for this sub par Hasbro shit without realizing there are many better options out there. Hell, Alternators Rodimus is still one of the best figures of that character and he came out years ago.
