Sludge is about 20-30% of the parts that Slug is made out of. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. I think he's a pretty decent remake of the G1 character. However, I do think he is the weakest out of the Dinobots because of the awkward wing placement and the face that looks like he had a war flashback. He makes for a pretty decent arm, though. Like with Snarl, I wouldn't really recommend him individually unless you were already planning to complete the team. Group photos are in the Snarl review.

Here's Volcanicus with the wave 2 Dinobots as the arms. The other formation is in the Snarl thread.

Would it be possible to see Sludge and Slug as the legs with Grimlock in this fan mode? Since those two are retools I wonder how symmetrical they'd look.

How are the extra feet attached to the thighs in that pic?

Any chance of a picture of Sludge's robot back? as unobscured by the neck as possible? Something has been intriguing me about it since I first saw the toy....

Best I could manage. Don't have an extra set of feet to complete the look.

The rounding on the back of tye body's shoulders made me think it might be Slug's front reversed.

Picked him and Rippersnapper up today. I like him alright. The reuse from Slag doesn’t bother me all that much. What does though are the entirely clear parts he has. He’s a nice mass retail Deluxe class release in any event.

Just a few mods (legs, tail) and he'd make a decent Paddles!

Some pretty high level remolding to get him from Slug. It took me a few to when I was first transforming him to figure out it was far more extensive than expected.

Those group shots just make me further appreciate what a great little toy Slash is. She blends in perfectly with the aesthetic of the others and looks like she could have easily been an original member.

Hasbro did a great job on these little Dinobots, at this price point they are almost perfect!

It's less than ideal. It puts a lot of stress on the clear chest piece and might eventually crack it if left like that for too long.

Since the first pics dropped and after scrutinising my in-hand Slug I've been wanting to try this upper-arm swap:
And, honestly, I'm 99% convinced that this was the design intent from day one but the parts exchange got lost in the translation from Slug to Sludge.
Not only does it give Sludge more G1-ish shoulders but, because the balljoint slot is offset, they sit further forward in relation to his chest and don't look like they're slouching as the stock construction does.
I'd thought from the start that, never mind the scale, he didn't look "muscular" enough but until the mod I didn't realise it wasn't his lack of body mass, it was the slouching shoulders!

Although his bot mode is a little dull, his leg mode is rather regal.
hes most likely going to end up displayed as either a dinosaur, or a limb.

Wait so you changed the upper arms of Slug and Sludge?
