So far with the Prime Trilogy, we got Combiner Wars with combiner technology, and then we got Titan Returns with headmasters. Anyone know of or guessing what the next gimmick might be?

I am thinking they might try to do the key thing like they did with the Cybertron trilogy line. The key would be some matrix like thing, hence the power of the primes.

I was thinking the gimmick might be armors, at least for leader or voyager class figures, since having part of your vehicle mode turn into a power armor is a common gimmick among primes.
My other guess was maaaaaaybe minicons? But I suspect they might save that for a later line outside of this trilogy. That not-cyberkey thing you're talking about sounds way more likely than minicons right now.

I could be reading things wrongly or might have missed something, but isn't the "Power of the Primes" thing just the voting for the new Prime? Also, by the sounds of it, the whole "Prime Wars trilogy" doesn't have anything to do with the Combiner Wars and Titans Return themes, let alone Generations as a whole. Sounds more like it's something to do with the comics or a series of books.

I don't think they'll do anything like the cyber key gimmick. The gimmicks for the first two-thirds of the trilogy were based on G1 gimmicks. I think that will continue. Whether it is actual powermasters, target masters, pretenders, or maybe a return of micromasters. Or a combination of different gimmicks based on what Primes are made for the toy line.

The Prime Wars is spread over the multiple Transformers media. Combiner Wars had the toyline, a cartoon and a comic tie-in. Titans Return had the toy line and the comic tie-in and probably a cartoon coming. The final part will have the toy line, cartoon and comic tie-in also. Hasbro originally announced this trilogy as a multi-faceted media campaign. So, it's not just a vote for a new Prime, that's just one aspect of it.

Now I'm even more confused... when were Combiner Wars and Titans Return ever announced as the first two parts of a trilogy? Also, what I mean is that the name "Power of the Primes" seems to only be linked to the fan vote, and doesn't look like it's the name for the next theme of Generations after Titans Return is over. Similarly, their info for the Power of the Primes vote made it sound like the "Prime Wars Trilogy" naming was just something relating to the comics and other non-toy media.

TO my knowledge since the Combiner Wars it was stated to be part one in a 3 part trilogy.

I think it's going to be what others above have basically said: Cyberplanet-key like functionality, but with chest-based Matrix chambers. Put in Matrix, close chest cavity, and gimmick activates.

I think the gimmick will be that all the Deluxe/Voyager/Leader class figures will have an opening chest compartment that you can fit a Matrix into... And when you do, it will magically make the figure grow larger. Like maybe 20% larger.

Oh yeah, and an extra connecting trailer will materialize out of subspace. It's going to be great.

Many places and more times than I can now count. If you frequent the News and Rumors section, you will have seen this mentioned by Hasbro in news stories many, many times.

I'm expecting something akin to the Cybertron lin.e as far as diversity goes. But not with Cyber Planet keys.

I think we'll have the gimmicks come in waves or be confined to size classes, rather than be linewide. And each gimmick will be associated with a member of the Thirteen/colony world

I can see the current Titanmaster pricepoint being supplanted by Micronus' Minicons.

Legends will be Devisens (Micromaster combiners)

Deluxes and voyagers will probably see changeups happen from wave to wave. A wave of beasts modes (Onyx Prime/eukaris) a wave of combiners (Nexus Prime), a wave of ladybots (Caminus/Solus)

And most of the Leader class figures will probably be the Thirteen themselves. (I've heard someone posit that Sixshot could be retooled into Amalgomus Prime, progenitor of shapeshifters like TFP Makeshift)

we still have almost a year of titans return (combiner wars lasted 6 waves over 18 months, we're only 3 waves/6 months into Titans return).
So we probably won't see anything related to POTP until SDCC or NYCC

Everyone will get upgraded to a Prime, just like everyone's now a Headmaster. You'll have Bumblemus Prime, Prowlimus Prime, Houndimus Prime, Blotimus Prime, etc.

Machinima announced the names for the next two video series they are producing, the second of which is Power of the Primes. I really doubt they'll name the video media tie-in after the fan poll instead of after the toyline. This was shortly before the fan poll was announced. It's uncommon for them to push media without a tie-in toyline simply because nearly all of their media exists solely to sell toys. It's more of a stretch to assume it's not connected to a toyline than is.

The semi-popular theorising anticipates something to do with beasts, as well as combiners and headmasters.

Pretty easy to merge them considering pretty much all we need for the first 3 years of G1 fits within one or more category:

    LEGENDS:
    Wave 1:
    - Seaspray (new mould)
    - Eject (Rewind redeco)
    - Ratbat (new mould)
    Wave 2:
    - Frenzy (Rumble redeco)
    - Outback (Brawn redeco/new head)
    - Steeljaw (new mould)
    Wave 3:
    - Beachcomber (new mould)
    - Barrage (Bombshell redeco/new head)
    - Ransack (Kickback retool)
    Wave 4:
    - Ratbat (new mould)
    - Goldbug (Bumblebee redeco/new head)
    - Venom (new mould?)

    DELUXE:
    Wave 1:
    - Blot (new mould)
    - Sinnertwin (new mould)
    - Cutthroat (new mould)
    - Rippersnapper (new mould)
    Wave 2:
    - Swoop (new mould/parts sharing with Divebomb)
    - Slag/Slug (new mould)
    - Snapdragon (Twinferno retool)
    - Misfire (new mould?/headmaster?)
    Wave 3:
    - Divebomb (new mould)
    - Tantrum (mouldmate with Headstrong)
    - Rampage (new mould)
    - Headstrong (mouldmate with Tantrum)
    Wave 4:
    - Pounce (new mould)
    - Wingspan (major retool of Pounce)
    - Cloudraker (new mould)
    - Fastlane (major retool of Cloudraker)

    VOYAGER:
    Wave 1:
    - Grimlock (new mould)
    - Hun-Gurrr (new mould)
    Wave 2:
    - Rodimus Prime (new mould)
    Wave 3:
    - Razorclaw (new mould)
    - Snarl (new mould)
    Wave 4:
    - Flywheels (TR Megatron redeco/new head)

    LEADER:
    Wave 1:
    - Sludge (new mould)
    - Soundblaster (Soundwave redeco)
    Wave 2:
    - Twincast (Blaster redeco)
    Wave 3:
    - Thunderwing (Sky Shadow retool?)
    Wave 4:
    - Quickswitch (Sixshot retool)

    TITAN MASTER:
    Wave 1:
    - Slugfest (new mould, new head?)

    - Headmaster (new mould-animated character)
    - Roller (Brawn redeco or new mould)

Ah, now I know why I can't find the right thread in my opened tabs. I always read "Power of the Primes Grimlock" in the "New Posts" overview of threads :lol

Yes, please no keys/matrices. The designs will suffer.
