I've been buying from Japan since the early 2000's and (touches wood) have never had a problem. The worst thing I've had is with my LG G2 Megatron, where one of the wings keeps popping off. Other than that, I've been fine with everything. And I don't just buy TF's from Japan, I buy other Anime items and a shed-load of Gojira/Gamera stuff too.

Having said that I've started being very choosy what I get from Japan because every... Single... Box I've had this year has been caught for customs! Grrr! So I'm kind of glad Takara and Hasbro are putting out the same stuff so I don't have to buy Takara releases for their superior quality, it'll save me a ton!

Which brings me to your customs question: USGoBuy allow you to do your own customs form, so I've just been marking everything as $20, which gets it through customs without a fee. Yes, it's risky if anything happens en route, but , well, what's life without a little excitement?! No different from having my stuff from Japan sent unregistered. Yes, it'll just show up at a certain time. However, the difficulty lies in the fact that there will be tons of other Transformers fans chomping at the bit to buy it as well, so it will likely sell out extremely quickly.

I have a feeling this will show up sometime later this afternoon while I'm at work, oh well I guess I do have the Takara version on preorder not really feeling this years exclusive offerings. Good thing to as I have more important preorders I'm waiting to be filled.
