With Unicron about to make a grand entrance it wouldn't surprise me if there was an anti matrix containing Unicron's essence that turns its wearer evil.

As this fig comes with a matrix I'm willing to wager rodimus finds it and becomes a slave to Unicron

There is a Unicronian Matrix, called The Dead Matrix. As one might imagine, it’s both the same and the exact opposite of the Matrix of Leadership, and it came with Universe Nemesis Prime in 2003. It functions exactly like Primus’s Matrix, and Nemesis Prime tried to kill Primus by unleashing it in Cybertron’s core.

Rodimus Unicronus comes with the Matrix of Corruption, and the bio states him being a corrupted form of G1 Rodimus. For reasons, obviously the name Dead Matrix can’t be re-used, but it’s most likely intended to be the exact same thing, especially since this Rodimus is very clearly Unicronian aligned.

 

I posted this in two separate threads and someone else posted in in yet another thread, all of which are relevant to some degree. Chances are someone at Seibertron saw one of my posts.

So has anyone confirmed this is actually in stores and the dude who "found it" in Kansas didn't get it another way?

 

The logistics behind it would make this theory a little bizarre.

First, the person would have needed to obtain Rodimus Unicronus through whatever non-retail channels, which can't have been cheep especially considering there has been no other confirmed worldwide sighting yet.
Then, he'd have needed to forge a Walmart receipt with Rodimus Unicronus's UPC on it.
Then, he reports it to Seibertron and subsequently sells Rodimus Unicronus on eBay...?

Sounds rather wonky to me. Scalping and selling a toy for profit is one thing. But importing a toy, faking a retail sighting and then selling the toy again pretending to be a scalper?

 

I didn't realize the UPCs were unique at Walmart. So if that's the case this is still really weird but far more believable.

 

It has nothing to do with Walmart. The receipt shown in the Seibertron news story depicts the UPC 063050966273.

Now, you can ignore the leading zero, but at the same time the barcode is lacking the check digit (that's just how receipts at Walmart are, apparently - Walmart Canada's online listings are also lacking the check digits). The check digit can only be one specific digit that can be calculated by websites such as this one. The check digit for this particular barcode is 9.

Rodimus Unicronus's UPC barcode has already been revealed. There was a listing at Toys"R"Us Canada that is no longer accessible, and if you go to the Walmart US listing for Rodimus Unicronus and check the source code for the page, you'll find the UPC barcode 630509662739.
