seeing those side by side pix reminded me of two things: 1-PotP Optimus Prime had a great combined look. 2-PotP Optimus Prime needed a LOT more paint apps with all that unpainted gray in all the wrong places.
To me that's armor. And of course he's not just Optimus Prime to me. He actually is what the toy is/does: Orion Pax in an Optimus Prime mech suit.
armor or not - the toy was lacking in paint apps. Apps which (as shown here on stprime’s custom) would’ve vastly helped with the look of the toy. Instead we got cheap foil stickers that peel off from the slightest breeze lol
I appreciate your viewpoint but let’s agree to disagree all that bare plastic is just begging for color. Been looking at my SG Starscream thinking the same thing: he’s a blank canvas for custom fodder.
