Is it me, or does that design seem closer to the fan mode transformation for Rodimus that someone showed in the review thread than the official version?

But I will echo what everyone else is saying- that looks awesome, but almost nothing like the toy.

I wonder if the figure would have been better had it shared a more similar transformation scheme with Optimus.

Every time I look at this design I see

That was from protector, that was from protector, that was from protector....

Its a shame fansproject can\'t be in an uproar about this.

I find it interesting that in the original design the Prime Master fit behind the Mattix, rather then become the core of it.

Probably because, y'know, it's a drawing. It's easy to draw whatever you want, far more difficult to realise it physically.

You know, it really makes me wonder how they would have pulled that off. The engineering behind these guys has always fascinated me. Thanks for posting this art. I really think that designing Transformers is such an interesting thing.
That being said, I am still happy with the final product. He's not perfect, but I really like him.

I actually don't have any big issues with the final design other than they didn't properly paint it.

Probably space requirements pushed that choice (merge PM & Matrix)later on in design process...

It is also impractical, from what I can tell. Almost the entirety of the Rodimus figure was to be stored in the trailer. The Hot Rod figure has almost nothing used except the chest, so I'm guessing that the legs folded up/hung out the back like Optimus' does. That's probably why PotP Rodimus has that empty space where it does.

Love it. The only thing I wish that had carried over from the drawing is the larger spoiler. I know it wouldn't be practical, but I loves me the larger spoiler on my Rodimusesusis.

I think it was a play pattern decision. Converting the Matrix into a pseudo-PM allows for the core to be swapped around like a standard PM or Enigma accessory.

Seriously though. Maybe a 3P could make a Rodimus figure using that design...
