easy fix for me: ive been avoiding burtons crap for awhile now. last thing i saw of his in theatres was hallows.
It kinda bothers me that you can tell several shots were made for 3D, which apparently will overtake movies completely in 2011. And Sparrow's hair is blonder. But they seem to have captured the spirit. I'll be there.
I was genuinely bored with the new trailer. Then again, I liked the trailers for POTC 2&3 and those movies were bleghh. Hope this one can catch the spirit of the first one!
At first glance its looking better than the mythological heavy and bloated F/X scenery of the last two movies. It's also missing Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner which were stories that grew tiresome during the first three. Glad they are gone. I'll give this one a shot...after I've seen THOR 2-3 times!!
"The story takes us to some different places," Marshall explained, "which makes it nice that it's not the same old thing. The whole opening and the first third of the film takes place in London. So we start on dry land and there is an impostor that Jack is looking for. He then escapes from the palace, gets captured by King George and there is a huge carriage chase...[W]e set sail and that is sort of the second act. It's a new ship, Blackbeard's ship, the 'Queen Anne's Revenge.' Then Barbossa has a new ship called the 'Providence.' The third act is this incredible jungle adventure through caves where they are looking for the Fountain of Youth." Geoffrey Rush will reprise his role as Captain Barbossa, now in service to the King. "[H]is character is different in this film," said Marshall, "because he has joined a different side... which is really shady."
Listening to the soundtrack. Kind of darker in tone than the previous soundtracks. Usual themes are returning but mixed with a kind of Spanish flair. Plus point: The soundtrack titles are not giving away the plot details. Conclusion: Soundtrack is very weak compared with the previous versions.
I was hoping the soundtrack would be pretty good with Rodrigo y Gabriela involved. (I guess that's where the Spanish flair comes in)

Saw it this morning. I thought is was better than 3, but there are some points that could have been better if they pushed the actors so the moments were more dramatic. The writing was good, but the performances didn't always live up to it. But it was worth a watch. Don't know if this means anything, but I was the only one in the theatre. Literally. Course it was the 9:30am showing(cheaper ticket) But it was interesting I just laid back and put my feet up on the seat in front of me and relaxed. No annoying noises or phones going off. Any seat I wanted, I wish all my movies going experiences were as good.
LOL. its funny you said that cause my son said the exact samething when it was done. If they do another one, I would hope that they keep it simple. None of this 2 parter BS like 2-3.
