I'm not sure if this is the right place but...what'd be the best box/postage options for sending a Reissue Perceptor still in box to Connecticut?

See what it will cost for Priority Mail with delivery confirmation . Im guessing like 6 to 8 bucks since its not going to far from you. That's the safest way. I never ship anything with parcel post anymore because 99% of the time priority is only 20 cents more and parcel post is not safe for valuable things.
I have never had a good experience with that parcel post shipping.. If you already have the Perceptor packed up just take him to the post office and ask them to tell you what the priority cost would be with delivery confirmation i doubt it will be over 10$.. NEVER ship without delivery confirmation though, it covers your butt and gives you proof it was mailed out..
    Hope that helps :)

Delivery confirmation (different from signature confirmation) is tracking. It's free when you buy postage online, extra $0.85 at the store, I believe.

    From my Wants topic:

A do/don't list for shipping packages:

Some of these things should be common sense. But...

-Do wrap the figures in bubble wrap individually.
-Do ship them in a box.
-Do pack it with paper or bags or whatever you have to hold the figures in place, preferably without the figures touching the sides of the box.
-Do ask me(or someone else) for more tips if you are inexperienced in shipping things.

-DON'T send it without protection or in an envelope or mailer. There are exeptions for non-Transformers, but you should ask first.
-DON'T expect shipping peanuts/popcorn to offer any protection. These are space fillers and nothing more.
-DON'T expect paper shreddings to do anything but make a mess and annoy the receiver.
-DON'T forget the bubble wrap, ever. It is the single greatest thing you can use when shipping figures, or just about anything! But it's almost useless if you only throw it in there or line the box with it. You have to wrap the figures, preferably with the bubble facing outward.

I know some people who work at the post office are members here so i wanted to ask about Reginal Rate boxes..

Today i sent a package out and needed a box and was told all they had right now was reginal rate priority mail boxes. They told me it was a better deal then normal priority. Normally i would have taken everything home and got a box from the recycling bin outside but they told me it would be a better deal then normal priority .. WHAT A CROCK!

I knew something was wrong because last week i sent a package to the same person i sent one to today , almost the exact same weight 1 pound 2.50 ounces and the reginal rate cost me $5.79 but if they had given me a normal priority mail box like i wanted it would have only cost me $5.35 for the same exact weight.. I just did the shipping check on there site to confirm this because i knew something was up. And what is funny is they wont give you the reginal rate prices onthe site lol.

Why was i told this would be cheaper then normal priority mail ? It is bad enough that my post office lies to me and tells me they never had certain boxes that i been getting from them for years and now they are lying to me and telling me something will be cheaper and it wasnt..

Stay Away from Reginal Rate Priority Boxes folks, its a load of crap and just a way for the post office to charge more for something buy calling it something else ..

This is a weird tip, but I have been "instructed" by the employees at the P.O. the last 3 times I dropped of stuff to NOT cover the bar code with tape. The reason I was given was that the "tracking" system have been upgraded, but it is easier to scan without tape on it. The employees "recommended" using a document sleeve, which of course, they sell

I've been told the same thing, which is why I tape over everything but the bar code.

If you do "click n' ship", after you have paid your postage and created your shipping label, the instructions provided state just this very thing.

    Hey
Does anyone know WTF is up with the international shipping now ? I just tried to get a price quote for a package to the netherlands from USPS.com and they are only giving me Express Mail and Priority Mail shipping prices. Its no longer giving me the First Class price. Did they do away with first class international now ? If they did that is so fucked up to force us to use Priority or Express, two of the most expencive shipping costs .
The Postal System is complete and total garbage anymore with raising the prices like crazy and now this crap..

Hopefully its just an online glitch and they stil offer first class.

    Anyone know for sure ?

OK so i put in a lower weight just now and it gives me the first class option.. So it seems anything that is over 4 pounds now can not be sent with first class mail international.. Total BS . I hate the Postal System.

if the package doesn't weigh more than 4 pounds you have the option to mail the package first class or priority mail. But if the package weighs 4lbs 1oz you have to mail it by priority mail. And first class int has no tracking service, only priority mail.
Also on PO website if you don't see 1st class or other options, you to click to expand the page, sometimes they get hidden.

But I been mailing packages since 2000 and I don't remember the post office ever offering first class for packages weighing more than 4lbs

Yeah i been mailing for just as long too but this is the first i noticed this. Its got to be new because i send packages to family back in romania all the time and always mailed it first class and those packages were always at least 15 pounds or more. My last package to them was probably febuary or march and i was able to use first class..

I also noticed it now says that priority mail flat rate envelopes can no long be sent international either. I used those all the time to ship my boxes to other countries. Its BS that they keep raising prices to ship but at the same time they remove shipping options.

Also you can track first class mail packages, you use the customs form number and it will give you basic tracking and let you know when something has arrived in the destination country and been delivered. I use that all the time for international packages.

This is more of a makeshift tip than anything, but if you run out of bubble envelopes/mailers and are trying to ship out small parts on the fly such as missiles, guns, energon stars, heads, etc, you can use a standard letter envelope. Just make sure to wrap the parts in a few layers of tissue paper and make sure to pad the surrounding areas. After that, you'll wrap the entire envelope in good quality packing tape. The aforementioned part is very critical as it'll make the envelope firm and keep the contents nice and snug. I've been utilizing this method for about 3 years and none of the items were damaged while in transit. It holds up pretty well. I'd only recommend it for small parts that aren't incredibly bulky, though.

Question: Can i ship something international first class and use Registered Mail on it? Would that tracking number i receive from registering cover me under the eBay/Paypal seller protection since the buyer is supposed to sign for it? I've never used the service but figured i'd ask since it would decrease some shipping rates for a few items of mine.

I have a complete distaste for the USPS, though experience.

That said this is a stunning post, thorough, and love that you know it from the inside. Thank you for your time in crafting this!

Im not sure on your question but wanted to give you a heads up on shipping first class international now.. If your stuff weighs over 4 pounds you can not ship it first class anymore. Once its over 4 pounds no matter how little over it is, you can only ship with priority or higher. So check that out before you give someone first class shipping prices for international .. I know these toys can add up in pounds really fast in a package. USPS is just another greedy company these days so they are finding ways to jack up prices on everything and change things to force you to ship certain ways...

Not sure when they started the whole 4 pound thing because I normally only ship with flat rate envelops (which they also jacked up) international these days for my boxes, but the guy at the post office tried telling me it has always been like that which is a lie..
I hate when they lie to you at the post office and try and make you look stupid... I sent huge packages to family in Romania that weighed 12 to 15 plus pounds that I shipped first class in one of the biggest ready post boxes they make, he told me I was lying .. This guy gives me a hard time everytime I go there to mail something, mainly because I only print my shipping labels online and don't pay the shipping online and he has to take the time that he is being paid for to print the postage out.

Now I drive out of my way to a new post office that doesn't give me a hard time about anything..

As both a buyer and seller, I have seen people use this "Standard Post" option a lot. If you use the USPS postal calculator, you will find using USPS Priority is a much better value. It gets to the sender in 2-3 days, plus free tracking and $50 insurance.

Someone recently mailed me an item and spent $5.85 on shipping it Standard Post. It would have cost less to send it in a Priority Mail envelope. (item never arrived)

Standard Post can take up to 10 days and for about $1 more you get better service, plus your buyers will be happier.

Was reading through these, thought it might be a good idea to weigh in since I have had some recent bad experiences...

Mailing international packages these days is worse than ever. I mailed one out which may or may not have arrived. I shipped per the buyer's request, First Class International. It does have tracking, but only up until it leaves the US. If it gets lost, they won't bother looking for it unless you paid for Priority Mail. My package did not even say on the tracking whether it left the US, just that it was at an international dispatch area in the states. I called multiple times, and was told because I only paid for First Class, they would not attempt to look for it.

The moral of the story is, if you want to be 100% sure it gets there, buyers need to cough up the extra money and pay for Priority. Or work out a deal with sellers. I would be willing to do that, just so I don't lose a paypal/eBay claim.

    Here is my problem.

How on Earth do you ship SDCC Metroplex? I'm thinking about selling since I don't really NEED it in my collection (BW, MP, and G1. No classics..)

    Anyhow, just curious!

    Thanks!
