Accidental purchase! Ordered this at movies unlimited to meet the min free shipping threshold. It was back ordered and didn't expect it to ship LOL. At least it was $90 instead of $113 at Target!

Which theaters are giving out the posters? Or was this for the sneak peak on Jun7 only?

Think it was the sneak peak only. I'd love that poster and patch. I'm going Sunday morning and I doubt regal will have anything special. I'd love the optimus or primal popcorn head or the g1 prime tin but that was AMC I believe.

Bummer - I'll try to get the post by other means. I think the head buckets are Cinemark, and the G1 optimus+trailer is at AMC.

I was bored, I haven’t got a new figure for a while, everything is in preorder. Stumbled on this guy at Walmart. I’ll probably just gonna mess with it for a few days, take a pic of Skullcruncher holding Skullcruncher and offer it to my nephew.

Studio Series: Gamer Edition 02 Barricade is a figure I really wish I liked more than I actually do. Such a wonderful looking figure wasted by some poor decisions.

First let’s start off with the pro’s… this figure looks incredible. I really enjoy that they strayed away from hyper accuracy to the game which features a sleeker silhouette in comparison to this figure. The utter heft of this guy really gives the vibe of a big brawny brute enforcing authoritarianism across the cybertronian streets handing out brutal beatings for lord Megatron.

I adore the backpack which gives him a pseudo jet pack that add to the (figurative) weight he has. His hip wheels, while not to everyone’s taste, really add to bulkiness he exudes. For a deluxe he certainly holds his weight amongst even leaders as a Decepticon heavy hitter.

The transformation isn’t half bad, either. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel or anything it doesn’t do anything frustrating that would impede me from flipping back and forth from robo to that sweet and delightful car mode.

Speaking of which, ooh boy is this an all timer for transformer car modes if I do say so myself. Much like the game he comes from the car manages to mix the slick sports car stylings with that of an armoured vehicle coming forth to bring pain to Autobots who dare roam the streets. The grey and black add a richness to the colours accented by the purple and bits of yellow sported by Barry.

Now on to the disappointing things. Well, mainly the one disappointing thing that threatens to ruin the whole figure: the articulation.

While the heft and meatiness of the figure certainly adds to the aesthetic it removes from the playability. The arms end up being too big, with too many things jutting out to really allow him to reach many cool poses, which is disappointing when compared to basically any other deluxe released in the past 5 years, if not the last decade. The feet’s overly massive and overly flat design may be something to forgive if only they could move at the ankle and, even or, had a heel. But nay, a figure that is painful to stand was the choice Hasbro went with.

The weapon also compounds on to this issue while adding some more. Due to the one arms feature (or is it a bug?) of removing to place the gun on a 5mm port I find it almost essential to have the gun on as without it the arm is very prone to popping off when put in really any pose. This wouldn’t be such a bad solution if only for the guns size. It feels to small. When everything about this figure screams hugeness and heft having a little gun that does not match that energy feels very disappointing. It’s not bad, just not the best it could be. I couldn’t imagine placing this on a voyager of this line, as is the intended goal of having them all be 5mm ports, as it would feel even smaller.

All in all I don’t regret getting this guy (I mean he was a gift, after all) but I do not really enjoy how it feels like he was sabotaged. I have heard that these first few figs were last minute additions to the 2023 studio series line up, if that’s true I wish they had’ve pushed them back a year and perfected them.

To be honest I’m not too big into them either. I have vague memories of playing them when they were new but I’m not sure if I’m just replacing memories of watching YouTube videos of them as my own. They seemed real cool but I’ve never been a huge video game person honestly. I can, however, appreciate a good design, which is something Barricade undoubtedly has.

Oh and thank you : )

Wait. Your Core Class Arcee cost as much as the Optimus she's straddling? WTF? Where do you live, Siberia?

Finland. Prime was on deep discount at a clearance outlet, and Arcee was from gamestop-a-like.
