Nice! The toon version didn’t really get my attention, but this toy version is tempting. Been in the mood lately for a “big black truck” and I’m not sure if it’ll be this figure or Fans Hobby Archenemy.

I found him in SoCal the other day. Picked him up for a friend. Since he's not mine, I didn't open him. But he's larger than I was expecting.

Motormaster was the only Combiner member I had as a kid so I always had a soft spot for him. I keep meaning to get the Transformission one but I couldn't resist this guy. He looks SO good in both modes. Hefty and imposing. Truck mode is just gorgeous. Archenemy is definitely on my list too though :D

    Takara 35th Anniversary Optimus Prime

    upload_2021-9-3_13-12-43.png

I've always found the SS-38 design intriguing, but I never liked it enough to actually get one (plus it being part of a movie line counts against it). The paint on the Takara 35th version and how it was bundled with G1 Prime as a "35 years of progress" showcase won me over. His proportions look a lot better in person (most photos make his legs seem too skinny). The paint and details are really good and the figure is a joy to hold, pose and display. The truck mode is probably one of the best G1-style truck modes and for me personally it beats MP-10 with it's chunky legs and visible hips and MP-44 with it's messy rear section.

In terms of transformation I think this and SS-38 walk a fine line between more "classical" transformation and modern/movie panelforming. While the panels reveal detail and components, they don't fake it as pretty much every single movieverse design does. It's also refreshing to have an Optimus Prime that doesn't have a fake stomach grill. Some of the clearances are quite tight though.

All in all this figure has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Also I have to say, I love this box art:

To say I’m not a fan of BW is an understatement, and even within that series Cheetor was low on my list. But I have to admit that this figure looks damned nice, at least in robot mode! Great proportions.

I think it's a really good figure! The add on kit just made it even better but standalone, it's pretty dang good and a must have for SS collectors. I like it over the Satellite SW anyway...

I never had the original Blackarachnia as a kid and have no nostalgia for it, but hot dang if this isn't one of my favorite random repaint/retools I've gotten in a while! The colours work so well with this mold, and the leopard print brazier is so randomly fantastic, haha.
