Looks like Hasbro may have repaired the original mis-assembled figure and then boxed it. It's possible that their entire stock had the "wrong" shoulders and they had to be worked on post-factory to correct it.

I would love for someone on the inside to comment on the Galvatron shoulders issue...

2007 Barricade and universe Red Alert

 

Got my first proper paycheque in over two years today so I went into a bit of a robit frenzy - got G-Creation Sixshot, Planet X Ratchet and the last two Gen Selects Seacons I need on the way from fellow board-dwellers and have Earthrise Scorponok and the new Mirage/BW Grimlock set en route too  

Here's my Forbidden Planet score from today!   Mrs O may have overordered on Gnaws as there's still another 9 left on the shelf...for now...

Went for Road Rage and another Gnaw instead of Tracks and Rhinox. They can wait. Got two Wreck-Gars so I can mod the second one into a different Junkion by hopefully part-swapping with Junkyard and adding some upgrade bits.



So. It appears that this mold was designed by someone who hates both Transformers AND people.



...and, because I haven't seen anyone else do it, yes SS86 Slug/Slag CAN do the G1 lower leg configuration!!

I don't like him as much as Grimlock, tbh, as he's not as solid. Clipping the tail into place is a bit of a faff and I think his hands are too small. Mine has some loose parts - elbows, rear Dino-mode legs and back wings - so I'll be tightening them tomorrow, when I'll also be chroming his frill and possibly the fake lower jaw on his chest. I don't know how I feel about covering over the faction symbol, but I think he needs that chrome.
