I caved and got SS Soundwave due to movie toys drought but hey I also got my first Generation selects.

 

My coworkers got me these two as a present before I move states. I don’t deserve such kind souls.

G2 Megatron

 

Had three orders come in over the last three days. Here's Glyph to welcome them to my collection.


Glyph: "Glad you could make it Fitor."
Fitor: "Silence, where is Crasher?"
Glyph: "I'll take you to her shortly, there's still some more bots I need to greet."
Fitor: "Then get on with it!"



Glyph: "Hmm, I'm gonna need some help here. STEVE!"



Steve From Accounting: "And you're free."
Glyph: "Thanks Steve. You want to show them around?"
Steve From Accounting: "Sure thing. Alright guys this is the living room, where the big guy and his family play... Quick, someone is coming!"



Glyph off screen: "Well guys how do you like...Where did they go? Oh well time for the group from Sector 7."



Glyph: "Welcome to the house."
Dune Runner: "Glad to be here Ma'am."



Glyph: "Good to see you Crosshairs."
Crosshairs: "Good to be seen, Ma'am."



Glyph: "Hi there, let's see, uhmm Strongarm. Uhmm. Boss we already have a Strongarm and I like her, she's smaller than me."
Fereality: "Don't worry, Strongarm and Crosshairs are both getting new names soon."
Glyph: "Oh ok, well good to see you whatever your name is."
Strongarm?: "Uhmm, ok. Glad to be here, Ma'am. I guess."



Glyph: "And finally hello Storm Surge."
Storm Surge: "Howdy Ma'am, good to meet you too."
Glyph: "Well that's everybody. Alright bots, Transform..."



Glyph: "...And roll out."

The color scheme would be interesting if I weren’t so distracted by his exotropia. Odd that his helmet isn’t green.

 

The silver helmet makes the head stand out, it was the same for the original G2 Megatron.

 

Yes, I realize the silver helmet is consistent with the G2 scheme. I just think it looks like a part from a different toy. And did G2 Megs have a field of view larger than 180 degrees?

 

I think it looks more consistent on the original G2 toy because there was more silver parts on him like on his stomach and forearms.

It looks like silver Megatron wearing green tank armor.

Also, yes the big stick above his shoulder means he has to turn to look towards his right side, but you gotta do what you gotta do to compensate the big cannon man.

 

I agree, the silver head looks more coordinated on the original toy. Good observation.

And my jokes about visual field have nothing to do with the shoulder cannon. I’m referring to the eyes on the Earthrise head sculpt, which are wide and look like they’re pointing outward to either side, like a goat’s. It’s just a detail that I can’t unsee. I much prefer the Siege head.

 

Cannot help but think that great big cannon is compensating for something

 

I never owned G2 Megatron (it came out when I was in college, long after I stopped collecting). Referencing the image you posted, I wanted to see what this new Generations figure would look like in a more accurate color scheme (relative to the arms, abdomen, and pelvis, specifically). You're absolutely right-- the grey/silver helmet looks much more appropriate when other parts complement it. I also think the faintly purple face looks better than the grey.

 

Now I just need to track down Grimlock, I mean Grinder and my set is complete (although they won't be completely G1 accurate, since my Swoop is red (which I prefer) and Snarl is the chrome version).

 

Only gotten 2 Transformers this year. We've been on Lockdown in Ireland since New Years.
Partial easing tomorrow so I've just ordered a few from my local's website that I'll pick up tomorrow:
