Glad to see you're sticking around; I think I speak for a lot of people that we enjoy your presence regardless of leaks.

Though, I wonder whether the Weaponizers, the Modulators, and the Fossilizers are stuck in the WFC Trilogy or if they will be like the Titan Masters/Combiner Pieces/Ports from the Prime Wars Trilogy, still used sometimes, just sort of sidelined for the next gimmick. I could see Aligned Continuity Weaponizers designed to work with Arms Microns. I could see Unicron Trilogy Modulators used as Minicon Bases. I could see Fossilizers being released still during the Beast Wars Segments of "Legacy". I can see all of that and more being released. Those gimmicks have MAJOR potential for new characters (like the Fossilizers), new takes on old characters (the Weaponizers based upon the Titan Drones), and more small baseformers (the Modulators).

The spirit is willing but the wallet and shelves are spongy, and bruised...

As someone who, on average, owns at least 4/5 copies of each one of the molds, I beg to differ

You REALLY don't want that, ask the GI Joe guys. Hard to build an army when each army builder becomes a massively scalped exclusive selling for 6 times the cost, since even those who got them want more to build... well... an army
Obscure characters like Getaway, Fangry, etc are as ok as exclusives as exclusives go. I agree that Ratchet/Ironhide/main seeker trio should not fall in that category

One of my friends is a Gijoe fan, I used to be, but Hasbro didn't take their fans seriously until Gijoe was dead, I ceased to be fan. Now they troll them with limited exclusive army builders. It's not worth being a fan of Gijoe.

One thing that confuses me is how Hasbro will give us a G1-accurate Menasor that has car parts on his calves while still keeping him Combiner Wars-compatible. Menasor's knees would be on the limbformers' backs.

Who said he'd be CW compatible?

it's a fair general assumption, given Hasbro's whole "retaining legacy gimmicks" thing with Titanmasters etc., but of course we can't be entirely certain about it

    Right here:

Especially since Hasbro actually said that updated gimmicks will be retained.

I guess besides the Prime Wars base system, but it was pretty bad anyway.

That's not what "Legacy gimmick" means; it means they retain the gimmick they originally had, not that they'll be compatible

i did feel like the "compatible" was implied, given how they were talking about Headmasters and how they were retaining the Titanmaster version of the gimmick

Hmm, speaking about future figures with backwards compatibility, I wonder whether the C.O.M.B.A.T. System aka the presence of 5 mm ports and posts all over the figures will still be around in some way, shape, or form.

It'd feel odd if the Titans Return take on the Headmaster gimmick is retained but not the CW take on combiners cause the take on the gimmick has proven to work. Some figures more then others but still. Perhaps for the new take on the stunticons there's an option for Motormaster to be compatible with the CW limbs if one wishes?

I'd rather each combiner be it's own glorious oversized beast, like Predaking and Devy, but hopefully with modern engineering so the individual bots don't suffer as much

I’d be upset if they did away with the combiner wars compatible plugs. Hopefully they stick around. I’d love a new Menasor… but it’d be really nice to have them work with older figures. Also I want them to stick with the individual bots for the scale so we don’t have stupidly out of scale bots when not combined.

Why tho? You already have multiple CW versions of those molds/characters, forcing backwards compatibility will, more likely than not, detract from the new set.
And 99% of ppl will just display the established combiner, not some random team.
I wouldn't mind them making it a 6 member team by adding Off Road, in the interest of keeping things more or less in scale.

Not thrashings your opinion, I just honestly fail to see any upside to it

Personally if they are very similar to the CW versions I may not get them. I don’t really like the whole CW/PotP aesthetic for the most part and I think part of the reason was they had a lot of sacrifices with each limb having to be both an arm and a leg as well as be mix and matchable.
