Saw this on the Allspark but I know TFW doesn’t like sourcing other new sites.

The boxart for Seige Hound depicts him with Cybetron Defense Hot Shot’s head, down to the detail.

And the Hound figure has a G1 head.

EDIT: Love how this got moved from the News forum to the GD forum, despite being about a toy.

    Tj would certainly be surprised.
I certainly would like it to happen.
But for the alternate head to be on the package art.......oh boy, what if Hound is a pretool?

Doubt that he's a pretool of hotshot The artist was probably handed a prototype of hound and it just happen to have the alternate head tooling on it I hope this one get released though in a future wave!

If they could do Snowcat from Ironhide too, that would be great.

That would be pretty cool. I always liked the design of Exillion (Yes, I'm calling him that because his original name is way cooler than Hot Shot) but the Cybertron toys were not good enough for it (In fact, I'm pretty sure that the only reason why people like Cybertron Hot Shot is because it was better than the Armada and Energon versions in comparison).

Hope is an extensive remould to actually look like him though.

Snow cat would be awesome, along with sliding in that combiner wars demolishor

I liked the regular excillion mold well enough, but I’ve got the getaway version modded to be compatible with the getaway titanmaster

Given how RID01 Magnus is homage in Siege Ultra Magnus I wouldn't put it past me that they'll eventually get around doing that.

This isn't the first time it's happened. Titans Return Chromedome had Breakaway's head on the package art.

More modern UT figures isn’t a bad thing. Bring it on!

I do have to seriously question why they would choose Cybertron Defense Hot Shot. Isn’t that already a pretty great toy? I feel like if they’re gonna do UT updates, it should be for the characters who had crap toys to begin with. Though I guess that would mean discounting pretty much all of Cybertron, since, regardless of my thoughts on the fiction and the relevance the UT should have in modern day TF (by that I mean, the less we see of the nameslap characters, the better) Cybertron is one of the strongest toylines in the history of the franchise, and most of those figures are still very affordable. I don’t think modern Hasbro would even be able to touch that quality, except for maybe sculpting them with A-stances.

Updates aren’t always about being better than an old version, sometimes they’re about being a new version/body for an old character

I get that. It just seems like a wasted spot if there's already a pretty great representation of a character. I mean, look at the kinda lukewarm reception to the Siege toyline as a whole. It seems like the only time people are excited about the re-dos is if they're better than the last time we got them.

Though, I do take back part of what I said about Cybertron. A better Override and a better Thunderblast would be appreciated. Both of those toys are not so good.

    I don't know about that.
I remember a lot more buzz for the combiners and for Titans Return.

yea but potp had a lot of lukewarm reception seeing as it has an adhd line wide gimmick, didnt even finish off its smallest size class at retail, feels like it got cut in half and four molds feel like combiner wars reuses (2 heavy remolds, 1 rehead and 1 shared engineering)

Yeah. There were a lot of things Hasbro could have done better. Especially with potp.
Hopefully they don't make the same mistakes with Siege and release that Ratchet from Ironhide, Red Alert from Sideswipe and Sunstreaker to compliment him and don't randomly make Shockwave and Soundwave leaders.

so far it seems like siege has a pretty strong start and a good idea of where the trilogy is going

I think there's a lot of speculation about where the line is going mostly.
So far the only thing we know is 84 characters and Micromasters.
We don't really know anything about this supposed Studio Series philosophy either.
Warden has been known to talk out of his ass.
It might be nice if it was true, but we'll see.
We don't know wether we'll get the obvious redecoes to characters either.
And the greebles are really ruining figures like Chromia, which I could really have wanted to buy even though I love the T30 version I have.
WFC has a start. It remains to be seen whether it will have a strong start.
