Possible masterpiece galvatron!?!

Just saw this over on facebook. Who thinks it's real?

 

That would be awesome! We can finally get a head sculpt that is anime accurate. It would also make some sense, as folks have pointed out, that we get the decepticon city commandr now that we are getting the autobot city commander in magnus.

 

Wouldn't surprise me. MP Galvatron was likely planned to follow soon after Rodimus, but was put on the back burner after the MP-10 reset. With Kobayashi back at the helm, it's only logical (and would be perfect for the 30th anniversary of the movie).

 

Good idea, what with Galvatron being in AOE and Ultra Magnus coming out..

 

Isn't that image really old, just with a Takara Tomy logo superimposed on top?


Edit: Yeah, they've removed Guido Guidi's name and 2011 post stamp from the original.

Not the next mp i'd hoped for but galvatron definitely needs an update and it'd look great next to roddy.

I'm not convinced it's what you're seeing. One of the watermarks underneath all of that other stuff is for guidoarts.deviantart.com - which is Guido Guidi's Deviant Art page. While he does work for Takara-Tomy, he changed his username on there from Guidoarts to Guidoguidi a time ago - so the image at the bottom of it all, before it got reshared via ACtoys / Weibo, originated from him a while back.

I cannot source the original image in Guido's Deviant Art gallery, but I'm guessing it's from 3-4 years back based on the username on the watermarks of similar works from back around the same time.

All signs thus far seem to point to it being concepts Guido made to sharpen his skills drawing Galvatron for the Spotlight Galvatron / Ongoing series, though.


EDIT: Aaaaaand while I was typing that, Shatterpoint and Sammael both did what I could not and found the original image debunking this. Kudos, guys!
