Yes, and CW Megatron cost less and still offers more on every front than what Scourge does.

I mean, shit, does this Scourge even have ratchet joints? I'm looking at this guy and the joints just look...bad. Those knees are almost two dimensional through-pin construction.

That was some self-fulfilling idiocy on Hasbro's part because they didn't want 'spoilers' getting out and thus is why Soundwave didn't show up until VERY late in all size classes, if at all in the case of the canceled deluxe.

Given I actually despise that design with a burning passion, because it is a complete rejection of Transformers having recognizable kibble for the most part (like most of AoE frankly), the less I say about that topic the better.

Still not the same thing, though.

TLK lasted a year and a half because the movie was an absolute disaster and Hasbro had to come up with something to make up for the fact there would not be more Bayverse films for a toyline to support.

This is the kind of stuff we could ask and get answers about back when Botcon was a thin.

The closest I suppose we'll get is asking Caple - who apparently was the one responsible for Scourge, if the press releases on the subject mean anything - what was he thinking with this guy.

    It gets worse.

I took a closer look at the faux trailer hitches on Scourge's thighs - the way the slope is angled, the 'entry point' for the trailer's connector is on the bottom. Meaning the actual implied transformation should be the lower body rotation 180 degrees and then the legs folding in on themselves, which would explain the wheels in the hips (and that the lower pair of wheels on the legs shouldn't be there). The toy actually seems to have the legs do the complete opposite where only the lower portion of the legs rotate 180 degrees and fold in by extending the knee rotation like they were going into a kneeling position, just farther. The toy isn't even accurate with itself.

He has the Bayverse-style insect retro-extended lower legs. Ew. Why? Make it stop...

Not even then, it's just a consequence of how the system is done.

Rumor has it that the intended origin of the Terrorcons is that they're Bayverse transformers recruited by Unicron, which is why their designs look so much more Bayverse than the Autobots

That rumor was only started because people thought Lorenzo+Long nose truck + Unicron= bayverse cast.
No actual leak even suggested such a rumor, it was all speculation.

Not to worry, his knee is just bent in this one pic.

Plus, the little we've seen of his backside shows he doesn't have digitigrade legs in the movie either. So not to worry.

It's honestly hard for me to gauge the quality of this toy because it just looks like RotF Lockdown cosplaying as DotM Megatron.

It hasn't been disproven either. The only thing for certain is that the Terrorcons and Maximals have co-existed for some time since Scourge has Maximal badges on his person.

You and maybe 50% of everybody who sees this design.

Is Scourge, Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime or is he a brand new character not related to any previous incarnation of those characters that just so happens to share the name?

I am comparing this to the BBM which had (FINALLY!) nailed the live action aesthetic… and now a boxy truck turns into a squid handed robot. XD

Covid must have had a massive impact on the design team and communication.

Adding on: the same leak said that the Unicron we'll hopefully see is also the same one from TLK, which if this is a different universe than bayverse, then it's weird they're deciding to bring back the whole Interdimensional Unicron concept since FunPub or IDW shut that idea down iirc

The leaker may not have known the whole 'multiversal singularity' thing officially got written out, since the only instance of that happening is in the supplementary materials most people don't even know exist.

This is the first time Studio Series has actually been around at the same time as a live action film where it wasn't used as the mainline outright, as what happened with the BBM figures. So there's really no telling how things are going. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was some kind of strange hybridized system that semi-treated Studio Series as the mainline in addition to the actual 'mainline' figures since it's wildly inconsistent with who is getting what and when.

Yeah, it is pretty crazy that that leak is still being believed and spread around when it never had anything substantive behind it to begin with.

Thanks to someone else in our discord, we have identified the IDW Wreckers logo on the top right.

Mercenary has been suggested for the top left, but I’m wondering if there is something out there that is closer.

Even though the Terrorcon logo seems to be pointing towards Unicron, the bottom right appears to have Unicron horns, but also looks similar to the top of Tantrum’s insignia.

I mean no one is really surprised that Paramount and Hasbro were desperately going to jump on the multiverse fad, right?
