This Scourge is a very interesting mix of ideas to say the least. If the shot of him we saw in the trailer is just his pre-Earth mode form and this figure represents his Earth mode form then at least he’ll look less like a TF3 Protoform with a big claw.

    Bro's thicc.

I'm guessing it's similar to Mirage in this movie being the Porsche. They've already used Lockdown in the live action film series (even if this ends up being a rebooted universe).

I don\'t like that his design leads more in the bay direction

How to say you work for Hasbro without saying you work for Hasbro

After a bit more review, I'm pleased to see how big the alt mode is compared to other recent figures - sure looks a lot bigger than voyager Battletrap. Cool. Robot mode taller than voyager Galvatron...probably about 8" tall, not too shabby. Still feels a bit lacking, and the price hurts.

However, if JTPrime's packaging info is correct, he has no case mate in wave 1, and is re-packed with SS86 Snarl in wave 2. Seems there could be a reasonable expectation for discounts given how many of him should ship. I'll vote with my wallet and refrain from ordering in hopes of a markdown. For...$40 I'd be very happy to get him.

I was just about to post pretty much the same thing. He looks really cool to me, but leader class price is kinda hard to stomach for this one. Who knows? Maybe this’ll be one of those figures that instantly goes on sale in some places.
    Yes, I have big smart.

Also, is anyone else getting major Clench vibes from this?

Ahh, so no mainline scourge huh? Outside of the gimmicks I mean. Then this supposed “ mainline” is only certain characters which is so odd, quite stupid, & disappointing. I was hoping for some cool voyager/ leaders with some light & sound gimmicks like the good old dotm days. Are any of the mainline figures even gonna be licensed? if not I’ll pass on the mess we saw with nightbird & wheeljack.

...and nothing new when it comes to media lines compared to Generations.

While I’m still disappointed Hasbro opted to use rubber material for Scourge’s grill and claw, I’m thinking it’s inevitable at some point that DNA Designs will likely release replacement parts, much like they did with Shockwave. At least that’s what I’m hoping for. The longevity of rubber has never been great, especially when it begins to eat away at the surrounding plastic.

Oh probably along with either other upgrade part for Scourge and or also for maybe other ROTB SS stuff. Unless they do a set completely for Scourge.

I don't think you understand the difference the quality of the tooling actually makes.

It's a huge amount of money to make and maintain the steel molds, and what goes into Transformers is above and beyond what's required for other product. Fine joint mechanics require nanometre tolerances at times. Precision maintenance of the tools accounts for a lot of the production budget as well. That's why Lego is so much more expensive compared to KO block brands.

Actual plastic volume means almost nothing. For any given toy on the shelf, there's more cost sunk into the printed cardboard packaging than the actual volumetric cost of the plastic inside.

Very true. Why else would KO companies be able to OSKO a voyager figure and sell them for like $5? The plastic isn't what matters. Also, paint and decals are very expensive, as are the people who design and produce these things.

Scourge looks like Tarn with DOTM Megatron's truck mode. He looks intimidating enough, despite the obvious influences.

His interior with the flame-lit look makes him look cool. Looks like he will be spewing fire like rumors said, so maybe some later toys will have fake flames.

They might not own the factories, so they might not have control over that.

Last Voyagers with electronics were in Energon, back in 2005.

Last Leader Class with electronics were for Dark of the Moon, 2011.

Last "collector grade" mainline figure with electronics was Titan's Return Fortress Maximus, in 2016.

    They don't.
    Not for TFs.
    Factories are contracted by Takara.
