Honestly pretty genius they halved his robot mode arm cannon on his vehicle rear to replicate the stuff we see on the back of the truck here.

 

Honestly, I'm pretty impressed with this figure so far. He already looked cool to me in the glimpse we got of him in the trailer, and then the fact that Peter Dinklage is voicing him makes it even better. The only real gripe I have so far is that the back of the truck that is made up of his legs looks a bit ugly, but I can live with that.

 

When I look at that sword at this angle, I see the movie verse matrix of leadership.

 

I’m really trying to give this movie the benefit of the doubt about these sort of comparisons. No Michael Bay, different writers and I liked Bumblebee to me add up to the possibility this film won’t sleep walk through the same lazy tropes of the first 5 movies.

And my theory is that the trick they are pulling with him is that by the end it will turn out that, as tough to defeat as he was, he was really just an advanced agent of Galvatron, the real villain of the next 2 movies. That would jive with the unicron rumors

 

For the record, I expressed the toy scaling and pricing concern all the way back when SS Shockwave was released and the consensus was that I was wrong and exaggerating. Today, more and more people are expressing concern about it now that it's becoming the norm.
Called it, although I already accepted it a long time ago.

I do really like this figure though.

His truck mode is twice the size of the Voyagers in the picture... I'd say easily Leader.

Vehicle modes are always deceiving. He is pretty small compared to almost every other SS leader. Plus a fair bit of hollow parts combined with a lanky design, meaning very little plastic count in comparison.

I won't comment to much on transformation, but it doesn't exactly scream complex. Pretty basic truck cab compressed in the back transformation from what I can tell.

So overall? No, I wouldn't say that this warrants a 55$ price point.

 

I like the Mad Max look, but evil truck in chains gets old really fast. Nice design overall!

Barely had enough screen time to be a character outside of fighting. And really what was his character besides a one-note bounty hunter?

 

Nah, Lockdown was thin af, mostly acting as a goon for Kelsey Grammar’s character.

dotm was the only movie bay and ehren Kruger actually put some effort into, I will give it that. But the end result was ugly, cynacle and hateful, so it’s still a terrible movie

 

Aren't those the only SS voyagers that are that size, and aren't they also incredibly simple figures with hollow parts everywhere? We don't know how Scourge transforms yet so we can't determine how complex it is until then.

 

Starscream, from the same wave as rotf Megs, is the same size as Megatron. And no they aren’t simple or hollow.

As to the transformation, it looks pretty simple from what’s visible. Legs don’t transform at all beyond flipping up the feet, the shoulders fold together to form the hood, and the truck front tires fold inside the torso. The smokestacks are just attached to the cab doors so those flip out for his backpack. Thanks to how much we’ve seen it’s actually pretty easy to figure out the fairly simple transformation.

Speaking of which I realized that the canister on the truck bed is stored within the gun, you can see the ball joints on it. Also implies its mistransformed since it's supposed to be in front of the gun halves

 

Yeah, I think it’s time to bring back the Ultra class for things like this, especially if Leader ends up being $60 in another year.
