Im fine with it being heavily stylized (in fact, id be more shocked if it wasnt), but this opens the door for a proper 01 Scourge in generations, and hopefully more RID as well.

 

It's mostly repaints, they might as well, if anything just for the Selects options it opens up.

Though, it be an interesting twist if R.I.D Scourge DID end up being the original use of this "Laser Rod Prime" mold.

Considering he was the one that used that body type in a TV Show. Optimus never really used the G2 Laser Rod body in a show, since the actual G2 Show is just G1 but with CGI transitions.

 

I don't really care which one gets made first as long as I can get Scourge without too much of a hassle.

Not sure if it is good or bad that I am going into this one with very low expectations and little excitement.

 

Honestly, I think it's better that he doesn't look like RID Scourge. If they made him look like that, the audience would wonder why he looks like Optimus Prime. And they can't really do the "evil version of Optimus Prime" thing here, considering they already did that in AOE and even TLK to an extent. It would be weird to just have some Optimus Prime lookalike show up without any sort of reason.

I actually really like the idea of blending influences. It's a nice way to honor the 40 year history of the brand while also creating something distinct to this universe. That's what most Transformers stories used to do (look at something like Animated), until everything became Evergreen in the last few years. Let's get back to blending influences and creating new stuff.

 

I feel like Scourge is going to be a standout villain and could potentially become a fan-favorite character. His truck mode looks awesome and everything we've heard about him sounds really fun (his beard is on fire!). I'm assuming that GMC is going to be one of the other Terrorcons travelling with Scourge and the other Terrorcons.

 

This time things could be the other way around. The transmetals the RID predacons
were redecoed from are kinda nobodies (at least, thats what I gathered from a cursory look at their pages). Sky-Byte especially so.

 

sounds unoriginal and like it's pulling from the source material a wee bit much.

Loving the look of Scourge so far, can’t wait to see the back half.

And that orange GMC, change it to dark blue and I’m getting a very strong TFP Breakdown vibe on that front end. I wouldn’t mind that in the slightest!

 

Id like to see that Orange GMC be a bulky Autobot. Maybe a brolicked Huffer or Armada-G1 hybrid Hoist.

Okay, I\'m on board with RID 2001/Car Robots Black Convoy/Scourge being the main villain, as long as we get enough screen time with Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave. The GMC tow truck could be Ironhide, because remember the Energon Igniters fig?

 

Then again,, wouldn\'t it be cool if it were Nemesis Prime and Huffer.

Optimus seems to almost be inspired by his Ignitors figure from the previous movie, maybe Ironhide is too?
