Cyclonus retool is a real surprise but I'm not complaining about that! Great mold

 

Low key I’m glad Rewind is translucent because if he was solid he’d look real weird next to Eject.

My only connection to Metalhawk is from the IDW comics, and looking at this guy... he just isn't quite getting there for that purpose.

Hope he makes fans of whatever G1 Japanese cartoon he's originally from (I wanna say Masterforce?) happy though! It looks like they went all-out on the retooling.

 

I just really wanted a human head (with digital face printing as a nice touch) like how they gave Legavy Skullgrin the demonic monster head instead of the robot one.

 

Well, I did buy SS86 Rumble....

But he's likely to stay in tape mode for the rest of his life.

Is Metalhawk technically an Autobot leader? On the wiki it says he was leader of the Autobot Pretenders. But did he serve as leader proper or was it more like Grimlock being leader of the Dinobots? Like a subfaction leader?

I ask because I have a long term goal of getting every Autobot (and Maximal) leader as well as every Decepticon (and Predacon) leader... I may need to pick up Metalhawk to complete that. I am pretty unfamiliar with him but he's nice and if he served a leadership role in SGMF then that would be a reason to get him.

 

I really love that approach for the Pretenders as well, for both factions.

Also, stylistically I’ve always had a very hardcore love for Aircraft with forward swept wings, so I am quite happy to see a Cyclonus Retool.

I did skip his GS Toy Accurate Redeco, that version just didn’t speak to me.

I am also glad they didn’t use a Earth Seeker Mold for him. That said. Wouldn’t complain about seeing Sunstorm or Leader-1 from the mold, not would I mind a more effeminate remold of Thrust being used to make Slipstream.

At the time only the pretenders were on Earth so for a bit yea you could say he was. Until Ginrai and the Powermasters showed up then he was basically on the back burner.

 

I love them both.

I was hoping for a cassette pack like they had done before with the WFC trilogy, and fill the ranks of the autobot recordicons.

 

More like subfaction leader. He was really not that important in the grand scheme of things despite that he was in the very first episode and he was quickly replaced by Ginrai as the main Masterforce character (I would say that even Minerva, Cab and Goshooter were more prominent).

 

Mmmmm... Gold plastic. Those were the years.
