he’s a Cyclonus retool, and that figure had issues with yellowing. the Selects version held up better but that’s likely bc of the darker hands.

 

In my opinion, doing the Decepticon pretenders' robot modes as the outer shells and the Autobot pretenders' as the inner bots is the perfect way to adapt them.

 

Clever Hasbro split the cassettes…but I am surely going to get Twincast at least.

 

That would certainly fit the the original sprue lay-out. Not that the new wings would have to be on the same sprue.

 

I pre-ordered him before even seeing pictures, no regrets at all.

The only problem I have at all with Twincast, is I was never in love with the color scheme, even on the original, and Encore releases, that is unless I put him in with my G2 stuff, then he fits right in.

Thats one of the multiple theories, but none of them have really been confirmed. Hasbro's only real acknowledgement of the issue was a live stream months back where Mark from Hasbro just said something vague like "we're aware of the problem".

Yup I like him. Curious what his vehicle is going to look like but that'll be revealed in time. Metalhawk being purely inner bot mode based means as a bonus he can still use the POTP Metalhawk as a targetmaster.

Twincast not having the double tape deck is a big bummer but not surprising really. Now we finally have proof that the alt head wasn't just some fluke not supposed to be seen.

 

But who wins? Who???

 

The altmode on Metalhawk is gonna make or break for me. I like the amount of retooling they've done so far, concerns about yellowing aside, I think he looks good on the upper body, hope the lower body carries through.

I think my bafflement comes from the fact that Hasbro usually go all out on the Autobot and Decepticon Commanders from each show when it comes to updating them, so I find it odd that Metalhawk gets kicked to being a retool despite being the Autobot Commander for the first good part of SGMF (till Ginrai shows up).

It's exactly what I wanted it to be. I didn't want a hybrid of the shell/inner robot that the cons do. I wanted a straight up Inner bot design and I couldn't be happier.

I really hope that BBTS Feb release holds.

Speaking for myself, that Rewind is incompatible with cassettes from Siege-onward, basically putting it at an entirely different scale than the rest of my collection.
