Possibly, but I imagine it'll be at least a little closer to the G1 jet mode because the wings don't look much like this. I'm so curious to see how much of the nosecone and cockpit changed! If those grey bits we see behind his head are actually intakes for the jet mode and not just faux parts, I expect the nosecone will be all new parts as well since it'd have to be a lot slimmer at the base.

As long as he gets as much retooling as Metalhawk got form Cyclonus you sure won't hear any from me!

I am not expecting as much. Regardless I’ll love it as long as there’s at the very least a new head. Which obviously there will be.

You could make the argument that the consistency you speak of was only for the Decepticon Pretenders. Like some others here, I do feel that for the Decepticons I generally associate them with their shells while with the Autobots I generally think of them in terms of the inner robot, so having the Decepticon Pretenders be a cross between the inner robot and shell is an excellent idea.

In my case, while Phoenix in Masterforce was a non-entity, his US counterpart Cloudburst I remember quite well thanks to the Marvel comics (like how he was able to carry himself and... Landmine?... in his inner bot's alt-mode). Especially his death in battle with Unicron. Metalhawk is definitely a character I associate with his inner robot, so this design pleases me greatly. I probably would've completely ignored him had he been based on the IDW version.

Now my big question is "does he come with his Titanium Saber"?

 

Both of these look good to me. I always liked Twincast’s colors much more than Blaster’s, so he’s a no-brainer for me. It’ll also be nice to have him to go with Soundblaster and the TR Headmasters.

Metalhawk looks fine! He’s not a character I particularly care about, but his gaudy color scheme is always fun, and the Cyclonus mold is great so I’m happy to pick up any retools of it.

 

Finally someone to give SS86 Hot Rod some competition in the beauty contest.

 

I find it interesting that Metalhawk is a retool of Cyclonus. Years ago, I took an extra classics Cyclonus and made it into a Metalhawk. History repeats itself lol.

Also why, pray-tell, are people so miffed about G1 Rewind being included with this guy when they're clearly wanting IDW Rewind who was released back in 2016?

 

Really want Rewind but not sure about Twincast, maybe if I could source a Soundblaster

 

Bit disappointing that Twincast is a straight recolor of Blaster. I was hoping he’d get a different chest like Soundblaster did. Damn, and I kinda want Rewind but I have no interest in getting Twincast at all.

Metalhawk looks cool. I kinda called that they’d do the inner bot instead of the outer shell to differentiate the Autobot and Decepticon Pretenders. I’d say Metalhawk’s inner form is way better than the outer shell anyway, so I’m happy they went in that direction. Saw a lot of people call that it would be a retool of some kind, possibly of Jhiaxus or Armada Starscream but I don’t think I saw anyone throw out Cyclonus as a possibility so that was a surprise. I can’t wait to see how his alt mode turns out. Hopefully we get a look at it tomorrow. Hasbro’s been weird about showing alt modes lately.

 

I figured I could probably ask here, but I thought I read somewhere that we MIGHT be getting a Legacy Animated Blitzwing. Is that rumor substantial at all, or just a rumor?

 

Probably because he costs even more now than it would cost to just buy Twincast for retail price.

Yeah but... That's how this sort of thing goes, I guess. I don't think we should just remake every figure because the originals cost too much now because that basically means every figure ever is basically due to be remade because the one released a couple years back costs a lot more now. D:
