Reminds me of my favorite Hunter shoulders in World of Warcraft... bear-heads.

Interesting design...I dig the shoulders, I just hope he's kinda 'readable' in the actual film, not the visual mess so many were in the previous films.

 

I'm not a huge fan of the design of the bayverse in general either. But they could do some interesting things with this grimlock, if that is indeed it.

Others have said that this Grimlock looks like a barbarian warlord. I agree. But I would say it looks a bit more...regal than that. The crest on his head hints at something of a very high rank, but something about the appearance on here speaks to me of "warrior-king." Like the designers took the moniker of "King Grimlock" and militarized it and then ran with it. Basically the vibe I get from this is an extremely powerful Autobot that is highly respected and Optimus basically appeals to him for help in some form. Could all be BS, but looks like they went through a lot of trouble to make Grimlock look like he's used to getting his way about things.

He and Optimus have a very knightly look about them. I like that, it seems to say that they are of equal rank. Maybe it hints that they will butt heads over leadership in the movie.

I would be ok with this.

Because previous Grimlocks have been masterpieces of design.

If I had no idea who the Dinobots or Grimlock were, and someone described Grimlock to me, that's what I would think based off his personality. Brutal, leader-like but with a savage edge.

I find it hilarious that this is very similar to a Prime design, being very humanoid with large discernable shapes, and yet people call it ugly.

NOTHING about that design even hints at Bulkhead. Bulkhead used a wrecking bal, not a mace. Bulkhead was round, stocky, and had massive arms. This design is very traditional humanoid, very armoured- looking but proportioned.

How is it that through three movies, they only ever pulled of two designs I actually liked (Sentinel Prime and Shockwave) but with the way the fourth movie is going, it looks like I might like a large majority of the robot designs? Because I really like this design as Grimlock (if it is Grimlock). Looks brutal and savage, just the way you'd expect a character like him to look. Put in the gold and silver colors that we know he still has, and you've got a perfect Grimlock right here! I don't particularly care that he looks nothing like past versions of Grimlock, because to me, as long as he turns into a T-Rex that breathes fire and is an incredibly savage character, he's still Grimlock.

That looks awesome. Funny how the one guy who isn't SUPER OBVIOUS has giant T-Rex shoulder pads even though this is the guy that seems most likely to be a random guy that looks nothing like the altmode.

I absolutely LOVE the fact that the bots have melee weapons here that aren't build in.

It started with Sentinel sure but now Optimus is rocking a broadsword, Grimlock is going it with a giant mace, there are rumors of a samurai like bot so he's probably going to have a katana etc.

That's going to be so fucking awesome to see!

 

I love it when people put 2 pictures beside each other and say they look the same, when they don't.

They just look like some plain medieval shoes to me.

You know, being Hasbro, Paramount and Bay finally went and did real Transforming Beast robots, there is no reason why at some point (maybe hint at in this movie or in the next movie) they can't give us larger transforming Insecticons.
