Not the same as trying to change one’s iconic look being used in one movie to something completely different in the sequel. We also did end up getting Wheeljack in Energon but Hasbro had to call him Downshift for said reasons.

I get where you are coming from but you picked the worst example for that.

Those are really impressive statues. 

 

Honestly the statues look really slender and quite nice. I feel they made these in preparation and as such used concept art of prime and primal. Still these look absolutely fantastic.

 

Since people are talking about Lorenzo di Bonaventura... I kinda wish they hired Lorenzo as a voice actor for Scourge.
Scourge is a bounty hunter who kills everyone from any faction and Lorenzo kind of fits that role (in the eyes of many people for some reason), it would be a good debut for Lorenzo as a voice actor.

Plus, it would reduce Lorenzo haters and we would see more people here wanting Lorenzo to voice characters!

Difference is Armada Wheeljack both wasn't planned to look like Sideswipe nor was planned to be called Wheeljack. Heck in Japan this was UT Wheeljack cause they weren't bound by the same trademark issues Hasbro was.


And another big difference, Wheeljack was in the last movie, and literally nothing but the colour white is shared between the 2 designs.


An actual better more relevant example would be Energon and Cybertron Wing Saber. The only things they had in common was they could fly and combine with Optimus. Heck their personalities were so different for years as a kid I just assumed they were completely different characters with similar sounding names.
