I was thinking Razorclaw, but Doomlock is a damned good choice.

I think that it would have been too close to Terrorsaur, though ironically Terrorsaur could have worked for Dinobot as well, since he's a terrifying saurian. If we'd done that, then we could have replaced Terrorsaur with BW Lazorbeak.

    2. G1 Cliffjumper is also a little c^nt. First he defied orders by shooting at Megatron--and missed--prompting Megatron to send out the aforementioned Laserc^nt, who then brutalized Hound. Then, he tried to take on the Seekers by himself at Sherman Dam, requiring Mirage to rescue him. Later he shit all over Mirage for an entire episode, when he was Cerebro-shelled, and at one point collapsed boulders onto Ironhide and Optimus Prime. He seems to get his ass kicked every time he engages the enemy, even if it's just Ravage. Yet he's fine with attacking Devastator 1-on-1. He usually gets in over his head and needs to be rescued. He opposed repairing Skyfire. At one point he was the only Autobot that couldn't actually jump up a cliff. There's a fine line between being a hero and being an idiot. And, well, at a certain point you're such a liability that it's safer to leave you at headquarters peeling cyber-potatoes.

    • Media where the Transformers are operating out in the open are inherently superior to media where Transformers are in hiding for some arbitrary reason.
    • The 1986 movie was a mistake, I don't like much of anything it added to the franchise.
    • Beast Machines told its story well, but I just didn't like the story it told.

I think the negative reception to series like Headmasters and Super God Masterforce are a bit overblown as the Japanese G1 entries are all mostly inoffensive and at the very least have more effort and care put into them then something like Cyberverse or the current Netflix trilogy do.

    3. Sunbow Optimus Prime is really inconsistently permissive and restrictive. One day he might say "Why not! Let's do a dangerous experiment in exploratory cybernetics!" and the next day he might say "No, building a solar tower is too dangerous." He's usually game for whatever crazy scheme the writers throw at him, but then out of nowhere he suddenly gets cautious and wants to take it slow. The Autobots could have used someone like Chip Chase as an advisor or XO to help crunch numbers on Optimus Prime's decisions and say "Wait... Are you sure?"

The Unicron Trilogy was a mess from the get-go. Armada was poorly done and rushed because Hasbro wanted to have the show ready to coincide with the toyline. Energon was WORSE given the rush job it had to the point where some parts of the animation weren't even finished, unlike its Japanese counterpart. Cybertron's Japanese counterpart wasn't even supposed to be connected to Armada and Energon to start with. I bet the English writers for Cybertron just said "fuck it" and decided to hell with continuity, they just want to write a decent story for a change.

It was the Japanese writers cause it was written in Japan like Armada and Energon. On the English side they had 6 months to dub the show (longest they've gotten with Armada being second) but had the headache of trying to tie it with Armada and Energon.

Only for Takara to retcon their version of Cybertron to be a sequel a short time later.

Ahh, that's not really the complete picture of what happened. The rushed and sloppy nature of Armada is more of Cartoon Network not signing off on the series without a certain number of episodes already finished; So the English dub of Armada was rushed to the English-speaking market (Even if the Japanese version of the show, Micron Legend was still in production and wasn't even close to being ready on-air)

So a lot of things are left out and tragically lost in translation, including several nuances and details that make the story of Micron Legend good. The Japanese version of the show, Micron Legend was aired in Japan months after Armada started; And it's genuinely the better version in a few aspects, such as a more polished script, the use of finished animation, a more fleshed-out storyline, dialogue that isn't riddled with translation errors or poor performances, and in general Micron Legend was aired in a completed state as it should've been.

Which I genuinely think is a shame as Micron Legend is a show that I think does a lot of things right, but unfortunately would never get the recognition it deserves among this fanbase thanks to how the sloppy, rushed Armada dub was what it would be associated with forever.

Spike Witwicky, Raoul, and Russel Clay are good human partners that all future human cast sidekicks should aspire to be.

    1. Cyberverse could have been just as good or even better than Prime if it wasn't a 10 min show.
    2. Netflix WFC could have been decent if Hasbro wasn't such a cheapskate... again

The first dozen or so episodes Energon are actually a fairly interesting premise for a post-war take on the Transformers and Cybertron.

As much as I don't like Energon/Superlink, I can agree with this. The first few episodes admittedly start out very good with an interesting premise of being set in a post-war Cybertron society where Autobots work together with humans and former Decepticons, which is pretty interesting.

It's just a shame that just like any of the other potentially great ideas in the show that never goes anywhere, Energon/Superlink never really pushes said idea to its fullest extent.

Yeah, the animation holds it down but there's an interesting premise there in the first few episodes.

I even though the premise of a rogue group of Transformers (whether a new faction or rogue Decepticons) trying to revive Unicron as their own personal weapon was interesting but that was probably the one plot point Energon ran fully into the ground rather than just abandon.

And in watching Cybertron, combination (which was the main gimmick for the Autobots in Energon) is treated as if it's never happened before, humanity doesn't know Transformers exist (despite the fact that they did in Energon), and no returning characters have any memory of previous series.

Before you respond, I'm very well aware of the Unicron Singularity thing that Hasbro used to explain away the canyon-sized plot holes. Except that that very writing shtick is never even mentioned once in the show. Tying Cybertron in with Armada and Energon was and still is a fool's gambit. But at least out of the three Unicron Trilogy shows, Cybertron's English dub is the most tolerable, and that's not saying much.

Still irks me that Takara would take Hasbro's route and somehow tie Galaxy Force in with Micron Legend and Superlink.

So it's basically Cartoon Network's fault and not Hasbro's? Why am I not surprised? :lol

I actually watched all of Micron Legend not too long ago and you're absolutely right, it is the better version.

My problem with the Unicron Trilogy is that it could have been something more. There was potential, and some of the ideas that they had were great on paper. The ideas in question simply weren't executed well.

I think the G1 cartoon switching Frenzy and Rumble’s color scheme was a happy accident because I think the new colors fit their respective names more.

In spite of all of its flaws I’m aware of, I think Prime is still a good chunk ahead of a lot of it’s competition.

RID15’s animation is pretty nice to me because of its frame rate characteristics.
