Its what recent MPs do, so you can have a Prime that fits in better. Detail doesnt change how good the toy is at least.

    Maybe.
Optimus Prime was never a favorite of mine but it all depends on how good the design is. If someone makes a much better looking and more articulated OP, I might bite.

Looking at MP Inferno, the first true cartoon accurate MP, you should also remove the chrome from your MP Optimus.

I've wanted new seekers since the seekers came out. I haven't bought one yet. Put Sideswipe on that list too.

Agree with both of you, its backtracking on both characters. I would be satisfied with an anime repaint of Prime, Soundwave, Wheeljack etc at this point. Save v2's and v3's when the MP line is much closer to completion. At the rate Takara is going, were gonna be old as fuck if/when they actually do finish it.

It hinges behind and/or removes now. I want the cleanest posable silhouette on the legs and don't consider partsforming an incurable disease. I'd imagine Takara would get around it by rotating the entire wheel section into the lower leg.

Inferno will always have chrome on his head unit so......nope! Besides some may still prefer the chromed Fuso front-end.

Or maybe go the classics prime route. Cause even that would be better than just leaving the wheels out to the side

Alot of people would debate that actually. since his proportions and colors are based on the character model, and not his actual appearance in the show

I've said this to other people, you can argue that this is because the cartoon was so inconsistent in its animation, but Transformers Devastation had Shockwave too, and he was very accurate to the cartoon.

    Really, he was?

But the colour isn't quite right -- the cartoon had him a more grainy, darker shade
But the feet are too thin and the wrong shape -- the animation model had thicker feet and more triangular like the toy.
But the legs are too thin -- the animation model had thicker upper and lower legs, also more angular.
But the stomach isn't quite right -- the stomach seems a bit too long
But the chest isn't quite right -- the animation model had a more protruding chest. Also note the raised bulge piece that on the MP is directly beneath the arm and on the animation model far more to the front.
But the backpack is wrong -- either too big (when using the cover) or the wrong shape.
But he's too lanky -- the animation model is quite bulky.

I can't remember who made this, but in this comparison I see quite a few differences between the animation model and MP Shockwave, while there are also quite a few specific similaries between the MP and the G1 toy

And in altmode the thin handle is very clearly a toy influence, because in the cartoon Shockwave always had a thick gun handle.

MP Inferno, on the other hand, has nothing from the toy unless it was also on the cartoon model. MP Inferno is the very first MP who's cartoon only. It could therefor be argued that MP Inferno is the first true cartoon accurate MP (not counting Star Saber).

True. However, he specifically comes with flat grey pieces to mimick the cartoon.

If/when we get a MP-10 + I fully expect him to have no chrome.

Don't forget the chromed nozzle on the head unit. Takara won't necessarily drop chrome completely, in fact if I was a betting man I'd say Trailbreaker and Hoist will have chromed grills too.

On Shockwave he was ridiculously inconsistent colour wise. There'll be examples of the MP shade, g1 toy shade and several more in between but I've repainted him to be more movie like and also done Soundwave in + style with white instead of silver along with a few carbots (crap lighting in my mancave at night so had to use flash):

Also done + style FT Insecticons/Scoria/Willis and Maketoys Visualisors. Cartoon for the motherfucking way!

I get the complaints some have with the mold, hasn't aged well?

Whoah, quite the opposite. It's the MP line that hasn't aged well.

MP10 has piss poor articulation compared to what we get now. He really needs better hip articulation and double jointed elbows at the very least. That's not opinion, that's just how it is.

His articulation is leagues beyond the much newer MP Magnus.

Prime is missing hip skirts as many MPs lack double jointed elbows. That's not exactly the end of the world.
