Absolutely not. The MP line aesthetic is not a constant thing and evolves with the different designers. For the longer the line goes on, the previous releases will seem more and more out of place...

Nope, don't need or want a v3 Optimus. I feel MP-10 is good enough. He was a much bigger improvement over MP-01, and the MP line was then scaled to him so things would look close to what they should by the official height chart.

What if this new v3 of Optimus is the start of them restarting the G1 MP line all over again? Suddenly everyone they did up to I'd say Ironhide/Ratchet would end up being redone to better match the cartoons? A new Sideswipe, Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Soundwave and his cassettes, Wheeljack, Bumblebee...Starscream and the five or so other jets to follow?

With all the money I have already spent on official Masterpieces as well as 3rd party ones, I do NOT want to basically rebuy every one of those characters all over again so they 100% 'match'. MP-10 looks fine next to MP-36 Megatron. He looks fine next to the other characters. If you're that bothered by the 'toon decos' of the more recent MPs not looking right next to the older ones, then you do what you do.
It's your money, but for myself, I can't really keep spending money on the same character over, and over, and over again to find one version that is 'perfect'. There will never BE a perfect version of the character in toy form. There will always be something that bothers someone, someone saying it isn't 'accurate enough'.

And the thing is, how can G1 Transformers toys be accurate to the cartoon, when the cartoon itself was never 100% accurate with things like design or scale itself?

So, yeah... I'm voting being satisfied with MP-10. Bring me some MPs of characters yet to receive the MP treatment like Hound, or Jazz, or hell, even the rumored Skids!

No-one is forcing you to buy anything. If you are truly that happy with mp10 then spend the money on something completely different. It's not like a v3 Prime is gonna be the only choice of TF figures.

I see this reasoning alot with ppl against the idea and it makes no sense.

 

For the time being, I'm satisfied with MP-10.

 

For what it's worth, the MP-10 mold is wearing down, I think...if my Shattered Glass version is any indication. We've had:

...probably one or two others I can't think of right now. That's at least 12 pressings...whew! If Takara had the choice of fixing the mold or doing a new version, I think their last Masterpiece Convoy is a good indicator. Kind of surprised, though, we didn't get another "Last Pressing"...

 

And I never said anyone WAS forcing me. I'm just making my thoughts known like the topic of this thread asks and explaining my reasons.

And I'm using my money for other things cause a v3 Optimus is not on my radar. For those that are happy to get another attempt at an Optimus that looks even more like the cartoon, more power to you.
I want to finish my Season 1 and 2 casts and since Takara is probably not going to get to that, I'm grateful 3rd parties will help it along.

 

I am still hoping that someone makes a decent Windcharger. That is much more important to me than another OP, as the current one is good enough

 

I got the 2017 reissue. The mold was holding up just fine in my case (unlike poor MP-11)

 

I would gladly offer myself an MP10, and honestly, I find it very accurate so there is no need for a new one. But again, one never has enough Optimus Prime

 

I'm going to say "it depends". It would depend on how the final product looks and the price tag attached whether I decide to get a cartoon accurate Optimus or just settle for my MP-10.

 

It was about 3 reissues of mp10 and the one reissue of 10b. They have definitely got there moneys worth

 

I just changed my vote. I was ok with MP10 but Megatron and sunstreaker have convinced me that prime V3 would work great in my collection.

 

I paid $210 for MP10, and he is a fine toy.

TT would have to make some amazing improvements for me to consider rebuying Prime (especially with their new price points). A new Prime would have to talk and tap dance, not just come with a new hat or slightly better articulation.

 

Never liked MP-10. I see him as a stand-in until something better comes along. He just doesn't evoke that kind and fatherly character to me. His head, chest, lower legs, crotch, feet and long arms look off. I still like the basic design of MP-01 much better. Unfortunately he does not scale with anything or I would still display him as my Prime.

 

This is true! In my opinion all these molds don’t add anything that is worth another high investment like that. I would buy it just to get that generation prime but I would certainly not buy tons of them. My KO Optimus Prime sits on one of my shelf and it honestly is one of my favorite!
