As time goes on, I'm probably going to misremember it. I'm just going by the fact that I knew about this sound (from this topic) before going to see the movie, and I posted my thoughts about it as soon as I got home. Even if it was less than a week ago, the sound in my head may just end up being the Beast Machines sound unless I were to hear it again. Weird how the brain works... But no I think a couple people said they would try to record it. I don't know my phone well enough to figure that out.
So we've got people who heard breathing, not-breathing, a unidentifiable "noise", the start of a roar, a full-on roar, and "mechanical sounds". And of course, no sound heard at all. Then, here's a recording of the "sound".... Which is clearly (as OP said) just the end of the musical arrangement. So in that sense, yes the sound was put there on purpose because it's part of a song that plays during the credits.
