Adults can collect anything they want, and sure, these are more expensive, higher quality figures than the average mass-market Deluxe you grab at Walmart. But let's not kid ourselves, expensive toys are still toys.

Not all collectibles can be toys, but all toys can be collectibles. They're toys, I know people who collect funko and I know people who collect hot wheels.

The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

The real matter isn't whether or not these are "toys" but what people consider "toys" to be and all of the social and cultural connotations the term carries. There are plenty of people out there who collect all variety of things, some of which are considered toys in their own fashion. Many hobbyist woodworkers will call their tools in their workshop "toys". Car and motorcycle collectors call their vehicles "toys". The list goes on. I'm an avid outdoorsman and I consider the various tools I employ such as my axes, knives, saws, and so forth "toys".

If a person enjoys a type of object they own or accumulate, they can and often do view them as "toys".

Toys. Plain and simple. Whether they're "collector" dolls or Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars or run of the mill off the shelf action figures like Transformers, they're all toys.

Even Millionaires and Billionaires call their yachts and cars toys because they play with them. They work hard, they play hard.

The only difference is we're willing to be honest with what we collect and do, while some of us are disingenuous and flat out lie to ourselves. Anyone who comes to a board like this, or a Facebook group pertaining to this and saying it's beneath them to call them toys or to play with them or they're "adult collectibles" and not toys... Is a self-hating weirdo, honestly.

If you can't embrace what you collect, if you can't enjoy it, if you can't take it at face value, then you're not really in it for the right reasons.

This isn't a hobby to make money on. Reselling serves no purpose.
This isn't a savings account for later. They constantly lose money.
These are toys. Plain and simple. If you feel embarrassed, then that's a you issue and perhaps you've grown up inside and out and you need some help moving forward instead of backward, that's fine. There's nothing wrong with growing up and getting older, it's a part of life, it's how it works.

If you sit there and secretly play with them or collect them and hide it and mock others while doing so, that makes you a weirdo. Honestly, we're all weirdos to some degree, above and beyond the collecting of toys, but be honest about it instead of hating others and yourself.

I'd rather be "weird" and collect toys and have yet another way to connect to my children than to be an alcoholic or a drug abuser (and no, I'm not talking weed) or some other addiction that costs money and wastes your life. You have to grow older, you choose to grow up. You can still grow old, grow up and have a child-like heart. If someone has an issue with your collection, find someone better suited. If they don't like your collection, they'll find other things to not like about you and that's the biggest problem, it's not the item in question that's the problem with them, it's you or them.

Be you. Be happy. If someone worthy of your time and love comes along, they'll accept you as-is without a single whine. Don't hide who you are, don't keep it a secret. You should never have to hide who you are because chances are who you are is just as f'd up as the person next to you and vice versa.

Go live life and be happy.

Clearly, they are Adult Toys and should be properly used as such.

Both. I'll let my son play around with a MMC, most legends class or Maketoys figures. He's not allowed to mess with my FT, XTB/KFC figures unless I'm there with him.

Sure, but let's be real. Where do you buy tools? The hardware store/department. Where do you buy cars or motorcycles? Car/motorcycle dealer.

Where do you buy 3P Transformers? Toy stores. It's in the name. So yes, you can refer to anything you collect as a hobby your "toys." But in this case the toys are actually toys.

You missed my point. Simply put, anything can be a toy depending on the owner's perspective. I didn't say 3rd party toys aren't toys.

They are toys that we collect.

I don't think that this definition is restricted to 3P. It would carry to TT stuff too.

I’m an adult who collects $200 + figures. I’d never buy these for a 12 year old kid. Now GET OFF MY LAWN ! ( shakes fist in the air )

    HT

    Bandai

    Arcadia

    Neca

    The list goes on.

They are all toys, some more expensive than others. Still toys.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

Sorry to be the odd man out but these are collectables. When I was a kid I bathed and played in the sand lot with my toys. I'm not doing that with my 3rd party figures and wouldn't let my child do so either. You guys may be rich but I ain't

Toys. Adult Collectible sounds like a term made up by people who don't want to admit they are into toys and not kids anymore.
