They've been hinting at this for a while, so it's no big surprise. The long awaited remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver have been officially announced as HeartGold and SoulSilver. They're saying it should be released around Autumn in Japan.

I never got to play Gold or Silver, so I'm particularly excited for this. I'm also loving the stylized Lugia/Ho-oh logos. Gold heart with wings for Ho-oh and silver lugia shaped like a will-o-wisp soul. Pretty clever.

Now which starter should I go with?

Actually before they came out I think the popular idea for the G/S remake names were DuskGold and DawnSilver. I liked the sound of that.

Then again I'm a girl. I don't have to worry about how fruity the names are when I'm playing them, luckily.

 

I'm a girl too.. but those games are so incredibly fruity. Needs more Sparkly Diamond and Glittery Pearl.

I just hope that this time there's an actual purpose for the Kanto Gym Badges other than just going to Mount Silver and that you have two cases, one for Johtos badges the other for Kantos. Oh yeah, and the Safari Zone better not be closed down again, we want special Safari Zone Pokemon! (Or at least I want them.)

I just hope that they really flesh out Jhoto more. Seemed like an after thought compared to Kanto but Kanto seemed like an after thought to Jhoto. *head explodes*

 

Of all the games, these had to have been my favorite. The originals are are the only ones I kept from the GB series. Hopefully they still keep the Kanto region in there as well.

 

I always liked that old Pokemon Stadium game back on the N64. It was really cool to import your Pokemon from the Gameboy games and battle in glorious 3D N64 graphics. There was a Gamecube follow-up too wasn't there? Maybe they'll do a new one on the Wii.

But you know, I've always wished they would've done a full-blown Pokemon console game. Like the portable versions, but a full on console game. Yeah, I know, it'd defeat the purpose of the portables, and there would've been no way to trade. But I think today where gaming and online play go hand-in-hand, they could probably do it.
