So Crystal contains all the contents of Gold/Silver essentially, no need to play all 3? And how does the mystery dungeon fit in? or does it?

 

Crystal covers the majority of Gold/Silver, and is in essence the same game. I'm pretty sure that Mystery Dungeon is a standalone and doesn't have any effect on the other games at all.

The Ranger though, has the chance to do extra missions that ends with you getting special pokemon transferred to your Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum.

 

Yeah Mystery Dungeon doesn't affect the other games whatsoever.
Looking at the new Ranger game, it has a Darkrai event and it can be sent to DPP afterwards. I hope thats kept when it makes its way to the West.

 

I haven't touched this game in a long time, but I pulled it back out on my long train ride up north...but I can't remember what there is to do after I've beaten the Elite Four. I've only got 2 islands unlocked (forgot which 2, Iron Island I think and one other). I ran around trying to level up/evolve a few Pokemon in my party, but I got bored quick. Is there something else I can do that I'm just not thinking of? I won't have internet while on the train so I can't trade using the GTS system.

 

Well after the Elite Four there are several Legendaries you can capture once you have the National Dex. Giratina at Turnback Cave, Cresselia who runs around after you see it at Fullmoon Isle, Regigigas at Snowpoint Temple (although you need the other three Regi's in your party to get it) and Heatran at Stark Mountain (on Northeast Island). Rotom also becomes available at the Old Chateau between (I think) 10pm-4am in a TV in one of the upstairs rooms.

A new area of Victory Road opens up with more trainers and items and pokemon. Northeast Island also gives you several more trainers to face and the battle tower among some other things.

 

I just started playing it again after someone finally motivated me to finish the Mt.Battle in Pokemon XD, and I've got a ton of Totodiles piling up while I try to get one of the right Nature, so if anyone wants a Totodile, just let me know.

Yeah, the battle tower isn't all that exciting to me either. Well it sounds to me like you've basically done everything in the game. The only other thing I can think of is to collect all the stars for the trainer card.

Personally, I've been spending my time trying to chain another shiny Shinx (since I had to trade the first one I found). I've actually gotten pretty good at the chaining part, but finding a shiny is still a pain. It's a very frustrating process and takes a lot of patients but it's great if you can find a shiny.

 

The latest rumour from a Pokemon Sunday promo video shown in Japan is that the Glacidia Flower can only be used with the Shaymins being downloaded from movie 11 theatres.
Wonder how the hell other language versions of the games will get around that if it turns out to be true. Oh wait, I already know the answer...events that will happen in a select few places

That might not be necessarily true, there's talk of a Shaymin event in Pokemon Ranger Battonage/Shadows of Almia that hasn't been released. SoA also has a Darkrai, Manaphy egg, and Riolu w/ Aura Sphere.

 

Yeah I know about those, the Shaymin one starts tomorrow so I guess more info concerning it will be posted soon.

Can't wait for the new Pokemon Ranger game. Original was my first DS game. Brillaint game but way to easy.

 

From what I've read, the Shaymin in Ranger Bottonage/Shadows of Almia isn't transferable. Supposedly it's just a special mission that involves a Shaymin.

As for the issue with the Glacidia Flower, I see two possibilities. One is they're just referring to the fact the movie 11 event is the first (and so far only) official release of Shaymin. Or the other is that they've some how encoded it so only an official event Shaymin will unlock the Glacida Flower.
