Perfect. That's all I needed to decide. Now to bail from this thread until I play through the game myself

 

I feel like we haven’t gotten a solid trio of starters in design since Gen 5. Fuecoco’s line is great. But I don’t care for Sprigatitio’s.

 

Yeah I gotta be honest, it feels like they've given a lot of information and presentations about the game and yet it feels like we've got a whole lot of NOTHING. Like right now I'm still undecided what Starter I'm picking OR what version I'm even picking up.

Looking at base forms for Starters I like Fuecoco the most but this could be a Gen 7 thing where the final evos make my opinions do a 180. With Sun and Moon I liked Rowlet and Popplio more than Litten, but then the final stages were revealed and I was all on board for Incineroar.

And for the versions, I don't like or hate Koraidon or Miraidon more than the other, and the same goes for Armarouge and Ceruledge. I like Tyranitar and Salamence the same too, so right now my ONLY literal pick for one game over the other is I like Stonjourner more than Eiscue.  

If they're really not even revealing ANY Starter evos before launch I'm going to have to look at leaks for those, and I genuinely did NOT want to do that this time around after going all in with leaks for Legends Arceus.

It appears that the starters are themed around various concepts of "Carnaval" from the Latin bits of Europe.

I sincerely believe the people who design the last stages of the starters aren’t allowed to see the first two first.

 

Looks like another "box the starter" generation for me. Man, to be back to the highs of 1-5 where the starter was the de facto face of my team. Now they just crater. Fuecoco's final is my favorite but would choose Hisuian Typhlosion and Chandelure any day of the week over these new Fire and Ghost dual types. I'm a little worried about the Ghost type selection this gen given it's my favorite type and so far I am seeing mostly meh choices.

Yes, I'm looking at the leaks. A few Pokémon are calling my name so far.

Bug/Dark chainsaw grasshopper. Reminds me of the locust one in my friend's fan region... although that one leans way more into the cannibal aspect.

Robo Hydreigon is cool.

Anything that resembles Volcarona will probably be good with me.

New Wooper evolution is really cool. Keeps Quagsire's goofy charm.

Electric/Flying bird reminds me of Tailow and has a cool typing. Looks nice.

Might be able to hash out a Paldea exclusive team after all, but with how boring the region and game looks I might just go with some favorites I never really got to use. If I did a team now it's probably be grasshopper, Fidough, Greavard, Wooper evolution, bird and Grafaiai.

 

I don't think there's lore behind this, but thought it was cool enough to share.

Ooh, nice to see that I don't literally like only 8 or so evolutionary lines here.

Spoiler: Commenting on Leaks

Fucking love that we have a return of traditional cross-gen evolutions. And they're not super weird like Obstagoon. I know the Girafarig evolution was already seen, but I just wanted to say something now that we have the Bisharp and Primeape evolution shown. I came so close to using Mankey in Alola and attempted to keep Primeape in LeafGreen so it's nice to not only see a good excuse to use it, but one with a unique typing.

New things to love: Tatsugiri, Veluzi, the psuedo-legendary (possible starter replacement there), Glimmet line, Tinkatink line, Toedscool, Dondozo, Maschiff, Rellor and Bombirdier.

But man are there some sad ones here, like Just-a-Tumbleweed, Just-a-Flamingo, Pawmi Standing Pts 1&2, Gimmighoul's line (like why treasure hunt for that?), the Tarountula line, Dunsparce's "evolution", Recolorlett, and those mice. I get the impression between the very basic Pokémon designs, ugly art style, lack of customization, and the empty seeming world that this is the most half-assed game by Game Freak yet.

The Target event is even worse than the Gamestop event. Went to the third store within a reasonable driving distance. Another one with no luck.

Makes two who said they dont know anything about it while the other one said they didnt have any, which they wasnt sure if they had in the first place smh.

Its nice that the writers decided to give fans two breaks in a row.

 

Has there been any other on the full list of version exclusives. Not going to buy the game just yet. Instead I'm going to see how good it is and if it's not too complicated, then I'll ask for either Scarlet or Violet for Christmas.

 

Honestly, with as easy as it's gotten to get "Exclusives" unless it's one of the legendaries, I wouldn't worry about it.
