It's been a while since I was last updated. Has there been any hints or new random Pokemon that lead to Gen 9?

 

Nope. It’s all about Gen 4 right now.

no and you won't see anything gen 9 at least until February. But with Legends Arceus releasing January and being what seems to be a bigger than normal spin-off, I would guess we might not see anything gen 9 till 2023.

 

Just thought there might be a small look like how we saw Togepi in Gen 1, or Wynaut in Gen 2 or Munchlax in Gen 3.

 

No they quite doing that just before gen v with Zoroark.

 

Curious, what about Meltan/Melmetal? Or does he not really count as Gen 7 or 8?

 

Meltan/Melmetal was intended upon release and is documented as a gen 7 mythical pokemon. Even though they used GO to promote it, it was revealed within its own generation's lifespan and after its games' release like other mythicals.

Zoroark was the last new gen Pokemon to be revealed and promoted before its own gen was revealed. Although even then the initial reveal for gen 5 was not long after when compared to Donphan, Togepi and Munchlax.

Also speaking of generational stuff about Pokemon. Toxel is the first new Baby Pokemon to be created since Gen 4

A new free update has been announced for New pokémon Snap, coming August 4th 01:00 UTC. This update adds 3 new areas with more Pokémon
First Day & Night version of a new area in the Florio Island Nature Park - Kakure Loophole
-Where you shrink down to bug-type size to take pictures with a new perspective
There is a River, both Day & Night, that will contain a variety of Pokémon - Yo-Yo River
There's a new wilderness and canyon stage, both Day & Night variants - Karari Wilderness
There are 20 new Pokémon added within this update

Guys! Pokemon Go is adding Gen 8 pokemon in august, starting with Wooloo, skwovet, zacian and Zamazenta (and maybe a few i forgot). You know what this means???

Why not, let's get a discussion going.

Anybody got a love/hate relationship with a pokemon? For whatever reason, could be cool concept but underutilized design. Good be cool design but bat stats, or just a bad encounter with it ingame.

For me, its Gumshoos.

I love everything about its concept, its a detective mongoose. Its design has the traits of a cap and trench coat to go with it, its cool.

But my god did they not take the time to go over it again, I know gen 7's design process is that they wanted to simplify the new Pokemon to be animals more than characters for most, but due to design cues for being a detective being almost unnoticed for some, Gumshoos gets associated with Trump more than a Gumshoe.

Cool ability and fun pokedex to go with it, this guy I love, but it just needed a once over to really go home with the detective theme. This design done by Vergo on twitter hits the ball out of the park for what I wanted and hope for (regional variant, evolution, mega) Gumshoos.

 

I'm going to have to go with nidoqueen, mainly because I love the green shiny but I hate how it ruins the synchronized colors between the nidoran lines.

 

Man, Gumshoos. Reinterpreting the attempt at bringing in diurnal mongooses to hunt nocturnal rats as a detective falling asleep while staking out a gang of thieves is adorable.... but then they made it a blond and had the misfortune of releasing the game in November 2016.

Sliggoo, Chinchou, and Carkol are ones I always kinda hate having to evolve, since they lose basically everything that made them interesting. Rolycoly actually does this twice: Carkol loses the cool monoeye and being a "quadruped" isn't quite as interesting as the unicycle look, then Coalossal abandons the wheel theme entirely.
Duskull used to be in a similar place as Rolycoly, though Dusnoir's part in Mystery Dungeon and later games better emphasizing the freaky belly mouth thing helped make it a bit more palatable. That, and the fact that 'Noir has, like, actual attack strength.

 

lol is coalossal useless? no coverage for that horrible double weakness?

 

You know, I think the most wonderful thing about all these recent shorts like Twilight Wings is just seeing how Pokemon coexist with humans in different ways. This one shows how Slugmas can live in your house.

Being an architect in a Pokemon world must be wild at times.
