A chibi art style doesn't mean they arn't trying. Art styles /= effort. Also, considering this team was one of the teams brought on by DQXIs, it's not like they have no experience with RPGs.

Also, the chance of HMs being back is very unlikely.

I’m in the party that thinks it doesn’t look that great, but also thinks it isn’t as bad as what people made it out to be (especially since this isn’t the first time people were disappointed with how remakes look in Pokémon). I’ll get it depending on what’s in it.

I could deal with Hms if they come back , i just hope they address the criminal shortage of fire types.

If hms are coming back, then make it easier to erase them from the moveset.

If HMs come back.. It'll be as something else. Like an "Axe" so that you can chop down a tree or "Climbing boots" for Rock climb most likely.

I would have gone with Dazzling Diamond and Priceless Pearl.

The Arceus game is also what I wished the remakes would be like but either Pokémon is starting to outgrow me or I’m outgrowing it.

    - No longer turn-based
    - Combats are now energy based
    - No transition between overworld and battles, all seamless
    - Seamless battle transition
    - It's not turn based like the classic Pokémon games, but an ATB system in which you select an attack
    - If you don't have any Pokémon, your main character will be attacked
    - If the main character gets enough damage, the battle will end

Now these slides are interesting. Below you see the player being carried by 3 definitely unknown or new pokemon. These are most likely the game's bike, rock climb and fly hm equivalent.

However, the character can be seen while the pokemon are blacked out. This could either be that they wish to reveal these pokemon later OR these a nameless pokemon silhouettes and are not pokemon at all. Much like in previous games how HMs summoned the same in previous games. I am hoping these are just pokemon that will be revealed later.

Legends Arceus looks interesting. They showed off only a little bit so it could either way - but I love the idea of free roaming in the past Pokémon world.

Diamond/Pearl remakes look like absolute shit, though (in my opinion, obviously). I totally understand that - like with Link’s Awakening - they wanted to stay faithful to the grid-plan of the original games so they could be pretty hands off and let the outsourced studio just ‘translate’ all the original sprites and puzzles. But I’m so done with the chibi artstyle and it just looks like a big step backwards to me - would have greatly preferred the overworld look to at least be on par with the one from Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee.

edit: New Snap looks lovely by the way, to end my post on a more positive note. :)

I'm going to enjoy the hell out of these remakes. That is all.

I know that I am going to end up going back and forth a lot about the remakes. They are not living up to the potential of Sinnoh with Sword and Shield graphics, there is clearly bare minimum applied to it, the art is a tremendous fart in an elevator, I hope they never do something like this again...

But I also really like Dialga and some of Sinnoh's aesthetic. It says in the description that there still are quality of life improvements. I really want a game with Dialga that's not slow. So long as the Fairy type is retained and I'm not forced to get Chimchar there will be times where I am excited.

Why are people so afraid that HMs are back and Fairy type are gone?

The closest relation to this, Let's go, kept fairy's and got rid of HMs.

Let's Go still changed way more than what this has shown and this is supposed to be a "faithful" remake so they might want it to be as 1-to-1 as possible, meaning removing key features that didn't feature in these games and retaining ones that were there. Keep in mind that it's also outsourced to a company who's doing this as their first. It's all new territory that looks sketchy.

Yeah, Outsourced to the same company who did DQXIs, Yakuza 0, Neir Automata.

Obviously they have no clue what they are doing.

And you are already wrong about it being a 100 percent faithful remake, as the girl who you get the bouquet from in platinum is there.

They worked on graphics and promotions for those games. Platinum NPC just means they might be staying true to the generation instead of the games in particular which isn't all that different from what I assumed.

Yeah, things were slightly different from what I assumed. So what? It's a pretty big leap to say that adapting things from a game within the same generation means they will keep things from outside of it.

While you have a point i do think they would modernize some things as they have with previous remakes. My feeling is certainly the fairy type will be present at minimum where is is appropriate to be in any pokemon that existed originally in the game that were later changed to being fairy type.

I doubt they'll go back to the dependence on HMs given the series' efforts to be rid of them. There will likely be equivalents, key items or rides or such, that fill the role. Or at the very least they'll make those moves TMs so you can replace them immediately afterwards. It depends entirely how much they want to rely on old methods; I would think fairy-types would return and they'll keep updated evolution methods (like giving Eevee corresponding stones for Leaf/Glaceon as opposed to hanging around rocks). You know, switch around the quality of life stuff to be in tune with newer games while keeping the big draws from the original.
