Got my Target Steel book double pack. Sadly I can’t play until I’m done with work.

What do they have to do with Pokemon? Nothing. The idea of putting in a mechanic that bastardly in a game designed primarily for a young audience (and the young at heart) shouldn't be a thing. Ever.

Not unless Roddy's just trolling us and the image he showed was fake. Please say it's fake, Rodimus.

or its dlc that can be purchased directly in the game without going to the eshop, a lot of games have that and it technically counts as an in app purchase. also there is this

"An interesting discovery has been found in some Nintendo eShop fine print. From the sound of things, Pokémon Sword and Shield may not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play online. Included in the normal disclaimer stating that a subscription is needed to play online, a second clause has been added. The clause states: “This game includes an in-game purchase option for users who do not have a membership.”

This statement has only been spotted on the listings for Pokémon Sword and Shield. After doing some digging on other major releases, this does, in fact, appear to be a unique circumstance. That said, Nintendo has not yet confirmed any in-game purchase. This would set a new precedent for online play, making Sword and Shield the first games to offer such an option. Below is a screenshot of the listing, as well as one for Super Mario Maker 2 for comparison."

from here Pokémon Sword and Shield may offer "in-game purchase" for online play

The In-Game Purchases is in relation to Nintendo Switch Online subscription, due to needing it for further online functionality, such as Home, etc.

Since the GTS is no more.

No microtransactions, just service charges and thats mostly on part of how Nintendo decided to handle online.

But you can still surprise trade and get the mystery gift/preorder bonuses of SwSh without a membership

So are there more details on the glitch stuff? The stuff I saw mentioned something about the autosave features causing it as well as a possibility of the SD card settings. Anything else?

Not fake, but it could be anything from dlc to items that speed up your leveling. I don't think that it has anything to do with subscriptions, since it has its own lingo "certain features require a subscription to blah blah blah."

I would believe that is in regards to Pokemon Home, since features such as trading Pokemon over do require you subscribe to Pokemon Home and is still separate from NSO.

Wonder if that's the case for the Japanese ones as well (which they most likely won't admit due to the chance of getting arrested for hacking the Switch.)

Either way, I'm turning autosave off. I prefer accessing my OCD saving problems manually in my pokemon games, thank you very much!

I really wouldn't go by Gameranx...

And until we know what causes this error, I'd be leary of any "failproof way" of preventing it.

If anyone has got the game, what is your choice of starter?

I'm think if I get sword, I'm thinking about getting sobble and naming it Lara.

    Named after Lara Croft.

I am choosing Scorbunny but have no settled on a name yet,

Also since i do not have an SD card in my system i might just be immune o this bug since there is no SD card with the problematic format to trip it.

Edit: the issue really does seem linked to SD card using the exFat format and formatting it to fat32 seems to fix the issue. Not seen any indication if my situation is immune , no sd card at all in system would trip the bug and it seem to be on the rare side and some what blown out of proportion.

Edit2: most recent article i can find on this : Pokémon Sword And Shield Players Report Alarming SD Card Issue, But It’s Fixable
