Either way it went, both sides have a good argument for why it was lame.

If Ash won the Alola league: He only won because it was a joke league with scrubs and 1v1 battles.

If Ash lost the Alola league: He couldn't even win a joke league with scrubs and 1v1 battles?

Ash didn't even have six Pokemon going in and the league was never a focus or goal throughout this region. I don't know how seriously I'm supposed to take it compared to the other leagues because the show certainly didn't take it seriously.

I just had my best luck in Pokémon since I contracted Pokérus. Within my very first encounter of my Lapras hunt, I encountered one and managed to catch it. It had used Perish Song too. The encounter rate being 5%, shit was nuts.

Oh yeah, I'm back at trying to complete the USUM Dex. Today I reeled in Clefairy, Clefable, Sandile, Krokorok, Krookodile, Gible, Gabite, Garchomp, Jigglypuff, Cranidos, Type:Null and Silvally. What's nuts, I'm still only at 50%. There's a lot of these fuckers.

Say, should I keep Garchomp and Silvally on my team for the rest of the post-game when I am not hatching/evolving? Would they be any help in the Battle Tree/against Rainbow Rocket? Currently have Nebby at the hot springs and it doesn't feel right.

Nothing will help at the battle tree its a freaking exercise in frustration. As for Rainbow Rocket, bring a balanced team of your best as it is tough.

Is there even a point to the Battle Tree or is it all just fluff? I wanted to see some old trainers again but if it's going to be infuriating like the Battle Royale, I won't even bother. Hopefully there's more to do than that post-game. From what I can tell, Rainbow Rocket is pretty much just "swoop in and kick their ass."

Could this be the one time the writers decided not to screw over ash?

I'd say give the Battle Tree a try at least, although honestly, there really isn't anything to it other than battling some special trainers from previous games, and earning BP. It is also very tough as it is designed for more of a competitive mindset, but personally, I think it's better than the Battle Royale.

And like @grimlock1972 said, Rainbow Rocket you're going to want a balanced team given the variety of Pokemon they've got. But yeah, basically it's swooping in and kicking their ass.

Considering how weak Ash's team in SM seems to be (especially compared to DP/XY, which looked like league winning teams), does anyone think the backlash over losing in Kalos pushed the writers into giving the win to Ash this time around?

    Well done!

A recent bit of luck I had too - I found a shiny Cyndaquil in Go on Saturday. First shiny I've encountered in the wild in that game (I did hatch a shiny Azurill a while ago though).

Yeah, Battle Tree is much better than the BR. It's along the same lines as the Battle Tower from previous generations, but you battle a familiar trainer every tenth battle. If you reach a 50th consecutive battle (prepare to lose soooo many times first), you randomly fight either adult versions of Red or Blue; their teams are familiar, but tough!

And Rainbow Rocket is refreshingly challenging for USUM. They're not insanely hard to beat, but the key players have some pretty scary Mons on their teams. Seeing those trainers will put a smile on your face too.

Its more infuriating as the AI opponents are OP no matter how you try to prepare for the fights they always seems to have just what is needed to counter your team by the time you get a couple fights in. IT is more straight forward and less gimmicky i suppose.

That said all it serves to do is give a false hope of earning battle points to buy mega stones and the other usual stuff you can get with them which since they are not going forward tis extra pointless now. I would advise you not to bother and save your self need less frustration.

Pretty much but the fights are not easy push overs especially if your type match ups are bad.
