Hi gang I gonna make it short and sweet want to get a g1 accurate look for broadside from an armada tidal wave. the arms are perfect and same with the basic body shape. Thinking about reshelling the chest/torso, and the legs so that it no longer forms the three vehicles but instead goes from aircraft carrier to plane and parts form for the plane mode. I have no idea where to start have been looking at some model kits for both aircraft carrier and jet's but dont no what scale to go with.

My skill level is begginer to average at best at the moment so I need adivce and help please. Hopefully some of the pros can give me some advice and recommend what I should do first. Anyone who is willing to help me step by step with the custom(not literally) will be credited it at the end when it is finished.

I would consider this less of a "reshell" project since you're never going to get a nice Aircraft Carrier model to snuggle it's arms around Tidalwave, but I think you're onto a solid formula.

Off the cuff, this is how I'd aproach it:

    1. Keep the triple-vehicle configuration as his "jet mode"
    2. Flip him over, and start treating the "bottom" of the "jet" as the "top" of the "carrier", find a nicely sized Aircraft carrier toy (ToysRUs has some nice inexpensive ones of about the right size), and figure out how to slice the deck of the carrier up such that you can fuse it to the rbot-back and still have him transform properly.
    3. If you're toasting the stock legs anyway, look into figuring out if you can reconfigure how the new ones work to provide better wings for your jet, or maybe a more convincing "hull" for your boat.

This is one of my favorite customs...EVER, and might be a nice point of reference:

You might look into using the avengers helicarrier, probably has aesthetics of both alt modes. May have to beef up the bot mode significantly though.

This is a good idea, the "Super Hero Squad" also has a Helicarrier that might be closer to the right scale (not to mention being way cheaper). The ship is only moderately SD'ified so mashed up with the rest of your bash it might work out.

In fact it even sports a split-down-the-middle pleay feature that might be very useful in a Broadside bash
