I'd probably spring for the 2 TB one, given that the game sizes keep expanding.

I have a 2 TB from my ps4 now hooked up to my 5 and it is well over half full. I can only imagine how it'll go with ps5 games.

I buy and sell used systems and games all the time, I can't believe how many people are trying to trade a Series X for a PS5 lol

    Never gonna happen.

After months of trying, FINALLY got a PS5 through Sony thanks to them sending me an email invite.

Now comes the wait for games I actually want. I suppose I can have fun upgrading all the PS4 games I have now.

Ok. I decided I'm going to start to try to buy a PS5 for retail price. What should I be watching and what's currently the best recommended way to go about it?

You've got your usual suspects. Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, PlayStation Direct, Newegg, etc. In their cases you'll have people on Twitter such as Wario64 and InventoryBot posting right when restocks commence.

Newegg also offers their Shuffle service, which more or less is a lottery. Your chances are pretty slim but you can absolutely get something out of it. My only selection out of 50+ attempts actually was just yesterday, got selected for a Strix RTX 3090 but unfortunately due to how expensive it was and the rumors of a 3090 Super, had to forfeit it. They won't have PS5s in every day, so keep an eye out for when they do. You'll more often than not see graphics cards.

You also have StockX, though while their prices are definitely inflated, I feel like they should also be mentioned. $200 extra dollars but they never go out of stock and are guaranteed real.

I should also mention that there also currently is a new revision that is currently going around Japan and Australia as we speak. Don't know when it'll come to the States but just in case, the new models are going around, with at least the Digital Editions with model number CFI-1100B 01 rather than the original CFI-1015B Digital Edition. Aside from very minute differences, the new model is lighter due to a smaller cooling system, which means the new model will also run somewhat hotter and louder.

Fair warning if you're going to stalk the Gamestop website. They tend to mainly do bundles these days, though occasionally they'll have the PS5 solo. The bundle is usually the console, a second controller and 2-3 games, all at regular retail with no discount for bundling.

I managed to get one off GameStop months ago. About 6 months after launch. I found it was easier to find big bundles up for sale compared to just the console.

Ya gotta have a pro membership to purchase a PS5 bundle from Gamestop though!

Look for tweets saying Target is about to drop theirs the next day or two. Target is local pickup only, so you're only competing with your neighbors when it goes live, and not the entire nation. Target usually goes live within a 30-min window or so. Wake up a bit before that window, refresh like crazy for a little bit, and hope it drops while you're doing so.

Shit, really, Target's still only doing local pickup? And here I thought they started online orders after a while, haha.

Not from Sony themselves. Unless you count Insomniac’s Wolverine game.

    Lame.

I really hope this generation is not a rehash of the PS3 era where it was mostly sequels and remakes.

Little bit of a bombshell. Turns out that the new revision, despite the heatsink difference, actually runs at CPU temps 11 degrees cooler (Celsius) than the original (51.15 compared to 40.08) in proper testing.

So possibly what we knew so far may have been a botched test, perhaps?

I was able to get one from today's PS Direct. Waiting in the queue was brutal. I didn't think I was going to get one.
