Hello I just have two general questions. #1. When I watch the 20th ann DVD of the 86 TF movie in wide screen it doesn't have the black bars. it just fills the screen. I have messed with the settings and no change. #2. This is a silly question, however every picture I see on the PS3, it has Playstation 3 written in silver letters on the side. Mine doesn't?!?!? It's a 60gb. Any help would be great! Thanks MegatronWP38
:/ Whut? Mine has PlayStation 3 on it. And you -want- black bars on your widescreen version? What kind of TV are you running it through?
If you are watching on a widescreen TV there will be little to no bars on TF the Movie. Also if it is a widescreen TV you mave have it "zoomed" or on "fill"
YEAH, It's a 32in widescreen HDTV LCD. it has no bars. I have it on normal not zoom. Im just wondering if it's cutting things off. It doesn't look like it. I was just curious if that's normal or mine. Yeah it doenst say playstation 3 on it at all....I got it refurbished from gamestop. maybe it came off?
widescreen videos will not have bars on widescreen TVs. thats why people get widescreen TVs. the Playstation 3 lettering cannot come off, as it is pressed into the plate. if the silver somehow came off, there'd still be recessed letters on there.
Some will still have bars, but it is way better than on a SD set. In fact even movies in a 1:85:1 aspect ratio have barely noticable bars, unless your set is zoomed. Since Jiggles is busy I will post this... http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/anamorphic/aspectratios/widescreenorama.html
REALLY? then i must have something set wrong on my TV all my widescreen movies still have bars on my widescreen tv...
Movies with a 2.35:1 will still have bars on a wide TV. Just smaller than on an SD set. I still makes the most of you TV (provided it is anamorphic widescreen) The 2007 TF movie and Spider-man 3 both use this ratio and have bars on the top and bottom on my tv.
well mine has no letters and no recessed leftovers from missing letters. it is as smooth as can be. So i guess I have another anomoly. A PS3 with no letters and a widescreen tv that still has bars.
if u must, i didn't read yours until after i posted that. i understand what you are saying and thank you for the info! Do u know what ratio the Star Wars DVDs are in?
there are replacement plates that can be purchased (the plate with "Playstation 3" written on it snaps right off), so you probably just have one of those.
Pretty sure 2.35:1. So there will still be bars, but they look nice upscaled and on a nice widescreen tv. IMDB will usually say what aspect ratio a movie is BTW.
cool. thanks. this stuff is all new to me. Ive been stuck in the year 2000 TV and video game wise until a few months and I m just trying to figure all this new stuff out you know lol.
Hmm.. can I buy the one with it again? I really was disappointed when it didn't have that on there....call me silly but I wanted it.
Since we're asking PS3 questions, I don't want to start a new thread for this question, but do any of you running HDMI ever get a glitch where you turn your TV on and the colors on your display (on PS3) are off or inverted? Usually shutting off, and on, the TV fixes it, but it's rather annoying.
I wonder how much of a film is actually "lost" if a 2:39:1 film is presented in 16:9. Isn't that the new controversy? Widescreen that isn't widescreen.
No but I have had Warhawk freeze up my set before. A couple times and only happens with Warhawk. I have to unplug the set to fix it.
