Both released sizes of the Playmates MG feel like joints got priced out of the engineering. At least the 6" version has good hinged shoulder and hip joints. On the Giant 11", they're merely swivels. The 11" at least benefits from a nice large presence and the hand joints that hinge open/closed and swivel, but the 6" is an acceptable temporary figure or for kids if the cost to import isn't prohibitive.

Oh man, still kinda stunned there’ No elbow articulation on mecha...

Yeah, I’m thinking of getting the 6 inch figures for my kids to mess around with.

For $10 the 6” MG is pretty good. The legs have enough between the hips, knees and ankles to pose quite well. The arms can get a surprising amount of movement if you make use of both the outward movement and the swivel. Elbows would have really finished it off perfectly.

That said, he is just a placeholder for what I can only hope is the inevitable monsterarts version.

Does Playmates have the rights to any other eras or is it just GVK stuff they can make? At $10 a piece and with the articulation standard of the Kong that comes with the axe I’d go all in on a Showa lineup.

This thread and the title’s basis was on the classic Godzilla figures they’ve been making in the first place. No idea why the classic line hasn’t gotten the same action figure treatment as the GvK toys.

EDIT: You’re even the first one to reply lol.

So I am :lol  it’s been a while.

Had some time tonight so I decided to bust out the dremel and some spare Revoltech joints. Going to let everything cure overnight but I think I might have solved the elbows and ankles issue.

I went looking for the Neon deco Kong and Godzilla today. Stopped at 5 different Walmarts.

I saw them for the first time only a week ago. I thought for sure I would find something. It looks like Walmart got rid of all their Godzilla vs. King Kong items. Every store had 0 items.

Hopefully they were only clearanced out, and will pop up somewhere else, like a Ross or Ollies maybe? It is impossible they would have all sold out in one week, or is it?

They're cheap figures, and at first Walmarts were getting a bunch via those display units, but if you bought one of each, wouldn't take many people to clear out stock.

Also the movie has been doing well so far! Wouldn't at all assume it's the stores dumping stock.

Seeing the movie a 2nd time over the weekend drove me to finally venture into a Walmart for the first time in over a year, and I found tons of empty GvK pegs. I even tried another store, same thing. I take it the ship has sailed on this one at retail?

Tough to say, when I got Mecha G they had a ton of figures but two days later they were all gone. I would have to imagine there'll be a restock at some point but I'm pretty cynical about that sort of thing.

Hadn't seen any godzilla toys at all on any store shelf for 2 weeks, until I visited a walmart I hadn't been to in a very long time and lo and behold I'm surprised to see one of those giant light blue displays of all the current godzilla toys. I got the purple/blue Kong, warbat, skullcrawler, and 2 mechagodzillas (which I spent 15 minutes comparing each one because most of them had a slightly crooked jaw). The 2nd one I got just in case I suspected he would become super expensive later down the line and a dear friend here might need one or if I try customizing MG by adding lego ball joints ans end up ruining him

I haven't opened them up yet since I need to clear space in my room but it feels great to have representations of all the GvK monsters for $60

Went to two TRUs and no sign of MechaG. But I found Heat Ray Godzilla so at least I didn't leave empty handed.

Oh wow...those are pretty cheap. In my part of the world (Asia) or Singapore to be specific, the Playmates GvK aren't available at retail. Some of my import store sources are claiming that the local Bandai distributor is "blocking" them? Abit far fetched but it seems likely because Jakks' Goji line never hit my part of the world too.

Wowzers! What a sight for sore eyes! I would grab a Mega Kong and Big Band a couple of 6 inch figures for me to mess with my kids...never thought the day I'll see kids today enjoying kaijus toys!

Oh shit, you have the minifigures over there! We've yet to get any look at them arriving stateside, but I hope they do. Still the only official Behemoth toy out there (Y-MSF has yet to release theirs).

That looks like the wave two assortment, since it's only Kong with jet and Warbat for newer figures.

After going to 3 Toys R Us', I finally found Mechagodzilla at Hamley's.

I also took this chance to get the available 6 minifigures.

All 6 out of the package

Size comparison to Jacks Pacific figures
    [IMG]

I don't have the bigger figures to compare, but Godzilla, Kong and Warbat look like smaller versions of the 6" and Mega Kong figures. Despite looking like it, Godzilla's legs do not rotate.

You can remove the base of Warbat if you don't want it. Though keep in mind depending how the it was packaged, the figure won't be able to support its weight if it leans too much.

Skullcrawler color comparison. I prefer the minifigure over the 6 inch version
    [IMG]

Mini Skullcrawlers are also a good snack for Kong
    [IMG]

Just like Warbat, Hellhawk can also detach their bases to display them on their own. They're not in scale with the included HEAV, but they're small enough for Kong to grab and eat.

And lastly we have Behemoth. I don't know if the tusks are like this or mine were warped in package.

Playmates has a habit of shrinking down existing designs for stuff like minifigures. They did the exact same thing with the 2005 Kong toyline, right down to the atrocious default sculpt of the Foetodon. If we ever get those in the US, I'll happily grab all of them.

Nice haul! Congrats on Mecha! Tbh the playmates toyline looks cheesy and cool at the same time!

I’ll wait until end of the month before I order them online. Most likely I’ll get a 6 inch Kong and the giant one. I’m passing on big G because I have various versions of him from Bandai and Neca.

Has anyone been able to find the 11/12inch Mechagodzilla in stores yet?

Made a quick mod to Mechagodzilla's elbows, wrists and neck.

The wrists bum me out because I love how much articulation they get in the 11" Giant version. Cool stuff!

I heard one or two people find them in stores in other groups, but not many. I got mine ages ago from Walmart.com, being in the right place at the right time.
